Circuit Analysis Lab (ENGR 262L) Lab #6: Circuit Design Challenge Preparation: Review what you learned in Circuits Lab so far. Lab Partners: You may work together with a partner at one lab station. Equipment & Components: Meterman (LM 631) Light Meter or Extech 430 Digital Thermometer Other equipment and components, as needed. Procedure: To be determined by you. Lab Reports: One report per group due by the end of the lab period. Include all parts of your report as indicated below, in Lab Report Format. Lab Report Format (for Lab #6): 2 pts Heading: Lab #, Title, Date Author’s Full Name (printed), roles Partner’s Full Name (printed), roles 2 pts Objectives: Design an automatic LED night-light (or temperature indicator) that senses and turns on when dark (or cold), and turns off when light (or warm) in the room (or cup of H2O). 1 pt Diagrams: document your design with a circuit schematic, clear and well-labelled. 1 pt Equipment: specify any equipment and components; indicate model # and unit # used 10 pts Results: record your observations, any calculations and test measurements, such as the light intensity at which your “night-light” turns ON/OFF. Answer these questions: 1) What steps did you go through to arrive at a solution? 2) What did you do in your circuit to set the intensity (or temperature) at which the night-light (or temperature indicator) turns ON/OFF, and how did you choose this value? 4 pts Summary & Conclusions: Summarize what you learned in one paragraph, highlighting anything especially new to you and any specific conclusions you arrived at as a result of this work. Include any ideas for creative extensions you may have. Put Signatures of Author & Partner at end of report
