Purposes
This lab is primarily to get an op-amp circuit built,
make sure it is powered correctly, and verify that
it processes signals properly. This op-amp circuit,
with some changes of component values, will be
used for the four labs following this one, so having a
working circuit now will save lots of time later.
Deliverables
* input-output measurements for three sig-
nals
* — Verification by your instructor that the op-amp is
built not only correctly but in proper physical form
Procedure
1. Choose and measure a 1-kQ resistor for R,, and a
10-kQ resistor for R, in Fig. 1, Record their values
on the hand-in page.
2. Build the op-amp circuit of Fig. 1. Your circuit must
be built neatly without long legs holding up compo-
nents, without places where wires can come loose
without your seeing them, and without places for
hidden short circuits. Follow the diagram of Fig. 2
as a model for doing this. Also take a look at the
picture in Fig. 5. Your instructor is going to be very
picky!

3, Adjust the Triple Power Supply sa that the +15-V
supply is supplying both +15 V and -15 V. To save
some time, set the + supply and then hold rack for
a few seconds to set the - supply.
4. Connect the three power leads to your circuit. Fig-
ure 3 shows this in detail.

Connect the Function Generator to the input of your
circuit. Don't forget to connect the instrument's
common Jead to the ground of your circuit.
Connect Channel 1 of your scope to the input of
your circuit. Again, the ground goes to the ground
of your circuit.
Likewise, connect Channel 2 of your scope to the
output of your circuit.
Turn on the power supply to your circuit.
Set the Function Generator to provide in turn each
of the following signals. Then sketch with numeri-
cal values each of the scope displays on the hand-in
page. Label each sketch with the actual values of
voltage and time along the axes. Title each sketch,
a. Sinusoid, 5 kHz, 200-mV peak-to-peak as shown
on the scope, not the Function Generator.
b. Square wave, 1 ki1z, 200-mV peak-to-peak
(scope).
c. Triangular wave, 2 kHz, 150-mV peak-to-peak
(scope).
Have your instructor inspect your circuit and initial
your hand-in page.
Finishing
Turn in your hand-in page by the end of the lab session.
