Refer to the federally registered label for appropriate directions for use, recommended applications and special precautions prior to use on these soils. RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS Sencor® Overlay Application Following Treflan Applied Preplant Incorporated: Sencor® DF may be applied at the rate of 1/3 Ib/acre as directed on the label as a preemergence broadcast or band overlay application on coarse (light) soils following a pre-plant incorporated treatment of Treflan® E.C. at the rate of 1 pt/acre. Types of Labels • Section 3: basically the regular federal label. • Section 24C: also called a SLN label (Special Local Need). • Section 2 (ee): allows application under certain conditions not specified on label • Section 18: emergency exemption Under FIFRA Section 18, federal and state government may be allowed the use of a pesticide in emergency conditions, where EPA has exempted the pesticide from the requirement of registration. An emergency condition is defined as an urgent, non- routine situation that requires the use of a pesticide and is deemed to exist when: 1. No effective pesticides are available that have labeled uses registered for control of the pest under the conditions of emergency; and 2. No economically or environmentally feasible alternative practices which provide control are available and the situation involves the introduction or dissemination of a pest new to or not theretofore known to be widely prevalent or distributed throughout the United States, or will present significant risks to human health, or will present significant risks to threatened or endangered species, beneficial organisms, or the environment, or will cause significant economic loss due to an outbreak or an expected outbreak of a pest, a change in plant growth or development caused by unusual environmental conditions where such change can be rectified by the use of a pesticide. Emergency exemptions are requested by the state, and approved by the EPA. Data supporting the need for the exemption is submitted to the EPA prior to the approval, which can take up to three months. Once an exemption is approved, labeling must be in hand during any use of pesticide granted a Section 18 Emergency Exemption. Emergency exemptions are time limited, and are generally granted for one-year time periods. EPA Approval of Labeling • EPA has certain labeling information requirements and must approve all language proposed by the manufacturer • EPA reviews labeling to make sure use it contains the information needed for safe and effective use of the product • Labeling supported by toxicity, residue and environmental data from manufacturer • EPA must approve any changes in labeling Trade name u,> Type ¥ pesticide ORTHENE 90 S$ (INSECTICIDE) (INSECTICIDE IN WATER SOLUBLE PACKETS) Active Ingredient By Wt. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing. © Remove PPE immediately after handling this product. Wash the outside of gloves before removing. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing. Environmental Hazards Wildlife: This product is toxic to wildlife. Do not apply directly to water or to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water when cleaning equipment or disposing of equipment washwaters. From page 2 of Osprey label Minimum environmental hazard wording on any label. Open dumping is prohibited. This product may not be mixed, loaded, or used within 50 feet of all wells including abandoned wells, drainage wells, and sinkholes. Pesticide Storage: Groundwater contamination may be reduced by diking and flooring of permanent liquid bulk storage sites with an impermeable material. Store in origi- nal container in a well-ventilated area separately from fertil- izer, feed, and foodstuffs. Avaid cross-contamination with other pesticides. Pesticide Disposal: Wastes resulting from this product may be disposed of on site or at an approved waste clis- posal facility. Pesticide, spray mixture, or rinsate that cannot be used according to label instructions must be disposed of according to federal, state or local procedures under Subtitle C of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Improper disposal of excess pesticide, spray mix, or rinsate is a violation of federal law. Container Disposal: * For Plastic or Metal Containers: Triple rinse (or equivalent) and add rinsate to spray tank. Then offer for recycling or reconditioning, or puncture and dispose of in a sanitary landfill, or by incineration, or if allowed by state and local authorities, by burning. If burned, stay out of smoke. * For Bulk and Mini-Bulk: Return empty container to point of purchase for repackaging or recycling. Parts of a Pesticide Label (continued) 9. Draltrtteterieeerrpletely, and then wash out tank, boom and hoses with clean water. Drain again. 2. Half fill the tank with clean water and add ammonia (i.e., 3% domestic ammonia solution) at a dilution rate of 1% (i.e., 1 gallon of domestic ammonia for every 100 gallons of rinsate). Complete filling of the tank with water. Agitate/recirculate and flush through boom and hoses. Leave agitation on for 10 minutes. Drain tank completely. Repeat step 2. Remove nozzles and screens and soak them in a 1% ammonia solution. Inspect nozzles and screens and remove visible residues. Flush tank, boom, and hoses with clean water. Inspect tank for visible residues. If present, repeat step 2. SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENT OSPREY™ Herbicide is not volatile. Damage to sensitive crops can occur as a result of spray drift. Spray drift can be managed by several application factors and by spraying under the appropriate climatic conditions. Consequently, avoidance of spray drift is the responsibility of the applicator and grower. SENSITIVE AREAS: The pesticide should only be applied when the potential for drift to adjacent sensitive areas (e.g., residential areas, bodies of water, known habitats for threatened or endangered species, non-target crops) is minimal (e.g., when wind is blowing away from the sensitive areas). Avoiding spray drift at the application site is the responsibility of the applicator and grower. The interaction of many equipment-and- weather-related factors determine the potential for spray drift. The applicator and the grower are responsible for considering all these factors when making decisions. Do not apply under circumstances where possible drift to unprotected persons or to food, forage, or other plantings that might be damaged or crops thereof rendered unfit for sale, use or consumption can occur. Rotational Restrictions ROTATIONAL CROP RESTRICTION From page 8 of Osprey label CROP ROTATION INTERVAL Wheat 7 days Barley 30 days Sunflower 30 days Soybean 90 days Cotton 90 days Rice 90 days Lentils 90 days Dry Beans 90 days Peas 90 days Peanuts 90 days Corn 12 months All Other Crops 10 Months. OSPREY™ Herbicide is degraded by microbial action. Under adverse condition such as cold temperatures and drought, degradation may be slowed. It is recommended that a field bioassay be run when adverse conditions occur. Grow test strips of the desired rotational crop in the fields previously treated with OSPREY™ Herbicide. Results will indicate if the rotational crop can be grown. Parts of a Pesticide Label (continued) 9.
