Answer THREE (3) questions. Answers may be confined to the law of any jurisdiction in the Commonwealth Caribbean unless the context indicates otherwise. 1. "The law pertaining to liability for negligently inflicted psychiatric injury is beyond redemption by the courts. Only legislative reform may serve to clarify this area of law." Critically discuss this statement. 2. Alan, the owner of a bookstore in the Eastern Mall, sees Bill, a shopper, quickly leave the store after entering. Suspicious, Alan hurries after Bill. When he catches up with Bill, Alan gently places his hand on Bill's shoulder, telling Bill that he wants to discuss a matter with him. Bill roughly brushes Man's hand off and walks on without reply. Alan tells Cindy, a mall security guard, that he has just seen Bill steal a book from his store and they both go off in pursuit of Bill. Approaching Bill from behind, Cindy grabs Bill by the neck and handcuffs him. Bill is then taken back to the store and a police officer called. On Man's information, PC Dick, the officer, arrests Bill for theft. Bill appears before a magistrate next day when all charges against him are discontinued when Alan is unable to establish that any book was missing from the store. Advise Bill. PLEASE TURN OVER
