Ioan Dobrinescu - PROGRAM NOTES - Cats of Disney Arranged by Liberty University alumnua, Alyssa Osorio, this piece features some of the most famous cats from Disney films. We begin with the opening to The Aristocats, to Lady and the Tramp (Siamese Cat Song), then “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” from The Lion King, next “I’m Odd” a deleted song from Alice in Wonderland which would have been sung by the Cheshire Cat, ending with “Everybody Wants to Be a Cat” from The Aristocats. Hello Kitty Who loves flowers in the sun or a party just for one? It’s Kitty! Kitty Kitty! The opening lyrics for Hello Kitty create the lighthearted, happy tone for this iconic Japanese anime. Created in 1974, Hello Kitty has become one of the highest grossing media franchises of all time. Pink Panther Henry Mancini’s classic Pink Panther theme was written in 1963 for the film, of the same name, by Blake Edwards. Later, the Pink Panther character was made into a cartoon series which featured the theme throughout the show, as the characters did not have spoken dialogue.
