It is written by contemporary authors which may deal with current themes/ issues and reflects a technological nature. It traces artistic representation of shared and familiar experiences. 21st Century literary Genres: 1. Ilustrated Novel โ€“ It is a story through text and illustrated images. Textual portions are illustrated in traditional form. Some may not contain any text at all and readers have to interpret the images to comprehend the story completely. Ex. 2. Graphic Novel โ€“ It is a story in comic -strip format and published as a book. The story is conveyed in comic form. It contains complete narratives. Ex. 3. Manga โ€“ It is used in the English-speaking world as a generic term for all comic books and graphic novels originally published in Japan. It is considered artistic and has a storytelling style. Ex. 4. Text-talk Novel โ€“ It includes blogs, emails and IM format narratives. The stories are almost told entirely in dialogue simulating social network exchanges. Ex. 5. Digi-Fiction- A literary presentation that combines three media: book, video/movie and internet websites. To get the full story, readers must engage in navigation, reading, viewing in all three forms. Ex. 6. Doodle Fiction โ€“ It is a literary presentation where the author incorporates doodle drawings and handwritten graphics in place of the traditional font. Drawing enhances the story , often adding humorous elements. Ex. 7. Speculative Fiction โ€“ a term encompassing the more fantastical fiction genres, specifically, science fiction, fantasy, horror, weird fiction, super hero fiction, dystopian fiction, apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic fiction.
