M1 CONSUMER ACT 1974 Businesses in the UK are required to abide by the Consumer Act. The Consumer Credit Act protects you when you sign a loan or hiring arrangement in addition to regulating credit card purchases. Additionally, it grants you the right to a grace period. The consequence of this legislation on customer service is that a client may claim that a purchase has not been covered when it should have been under the terms of the consumer credit act, which covers transactions when customers use credit cards, hire purchase, payday loans, and many more. DATA PROTECTION ACT 1998 The data protection act is another piece of legislation that UK firms must follow. The Data Protection Act of 2018 regulates how organisations, companies, or the government may utilise your personal information. The General Data Protection Regulation is being implemented in the UK under the Data Protection Act of 2018. This refers to the personal data that Sainsburys has obtained, stored, processed, and distributed. It contains data that is kept on employees, clients, future clients, and suppliers.
