beam after passing through all three polarizers. (b) Find the electric and magnetic
field amplitudes (the peak, not rms) of the beam after passing through all three
polarizers. (c) Suppose that the wave is propagating along the +x axis, and its
electric field at a given point in time and space is in the ty direction. What
direction does the magnetic field point in? Explain how you know.
2. (15 pts) An object is placed in front of a convex mirror. The
distance between the center of curvature of the mirror and the
mirror itself is 40.0 cm. (a) How far should the object be placed
from the mirror so that the resulting image is half the size of the
object? (b) Where would the image be? (c) Is the image real or
virtual? (d) Is it upright or inverted? (e) Locate the image
through a ray diagram. (You will only need two rays, but you
