Student’s signature: Tam BR Learning Managing in a Global Environment within 12 weeks has broadened my scope and understanding of the many different cultural values across the globe as well as the organizational behavior approach to managing in dynamic circumstances. The three topics that | am incredibly digging deep in gain knowledge from this lesson are the Determinants of culture, Business Ethics & Corporate social responsibility (CSR), and Leadership & Competencies in the global business environment. These materials broadcast what it takes to efficiently and long-term manage and operate a business. Furthermore, the opportunity to work in a group has increased my awareness of many cultures and helped me a lot to equip knowledge and abilities for a future manager role in a global context. Regarding the Determinants of culture, the module covers the cultural features of various models and will provide you with the essential skills for doing comparative cultural analyses. The Culture Value Dimensions identified by Hofstede (1980) include power distance, short term vs. long term orientation, uncertainty avoidance, individualism vs. collectivism, indulgence vs. restraint, and masculinity vs femininity. His findings revealed that cultural variations are significant and aided me in understanding where countries position on these scales. Furthermore, Hofstede’s approach provides cross-cultural relationship managers with a tool to help them comprehend disparities in value systems and behavior. When doing the first assignment, | utilized Hofstede’s (2010) 's approach of five cultural dimensions as a key reference point to explore the effects of the Vietnamese and the US management, communication, and decision making. Exploring these two similar yet distinct cultural values have provided me with complete knowledge of applying myself as a global manager. Another topic | reviewed is Business Ethics and CSR, which is also reflected in Assessment 2. This module provides me insight into the definition as well as the clarification of the Pyramid of CSR, more specifically clarifying the link between business ethics and CSR. In addition, the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact are overarching in the global environment and should be built strongly within any practical business.
