" I got this mindset ever since I was in student teaching. Being professional means being on time and being dressed appropriately but also keeping it cute and adding your bit of style if you want. I think a characteristic of a highly effective teacher is one who anticipates questions from her students regarding the material and being able to answer those questions during the lesson. On another note, make sure you are also differentiating your instruction to meet the various needs of learners in your classroom. I love hands-on and engaging lessons in the classroom. This is what makes your room inviting and shifts the atmosphere from the kids despising school to them wanting to come to school every day. One thing that I pride myself on is the amount of communication I have with my parents. I use Class Dojo and post throughout the week. The parents love being kept informed as well as having prompt responses from me. I am so proud of myself for continuing my education and going back to school to get my master's degree from Walden. I agree that professional development is important in being a professional teacher and even if it's not 2 getting a degree, just wanting to grow more in your profession and learn new things or brush up on old things is a great step in the right direction. "A central part of teacher education is critical reflection. To engage with the new – embrace change – is inherently difficult. The solution is teacher control of change. Those who embrace change, or not, are identified in their language. " (Weller 2019) I am new to the teaching field as I have graduated college within the last five years. We have entered the 21st century in which every year, there becomes new ways to teach and implement strategies in our classroom to help the students learn. Between project-based learning, classroom engagement, collaborative learning and teaching, and technology, the strategies are plenty. As I stand now with how I demonstrate teacher professionalism in the workplace, I would say by implementing technology and continuing my education. Being a professional educator, we must always stay up to date with technology. It is expected of us to be “knowledgeable in using digital tools and resources to facilitate learning and communication. “(Laureate Education 2016) If we use the SAMR framework model, that could be used as a tool to help us to incorporate technology in the classroom. To improve in this area, we must collaborate with others in leadership roles, be committed to continuous professional development, and advocate for the responsible use of technology and digital tools. (Laureate Education 2016) As we are now in a pandemic, technology is our main means of teaching being that many students and teachers are working from home. I have had to learn how to use Google Classroom to continue my instruction for the first two quarters of this year. It took a while for the students and parents to understand and learn how to navigate but now everyone has the hang of it. I also use
