TERM 1 Intro DEFINITION 1 I did my project on some of the most iconic names in medical science. Francis Crick and James Watson. James Watson being from America ventured to the United Kingdom for schooling where he met Francis Crick a very eager and smart young British boy. Soon enough the two of them were working together on what is said to be "the Most Important Discovery of The Century" TERM 2 What did they do? DEFINITION 2 Having met each other at the University of Cambridge Francis Crick and James Watson worked together in the Cavendish Laboratory. And in 1953 it was published that Francis Crick and James Watson had discovered the structure of DNA. TERM 3 Why did people care? DEFINITION 3 As soon as their findings were announced, it opened up a world of medicine and science that nobody before had been able to explore. This allowed for genetic science to bloom, as well as drug development, and disease diagnosis. Scientists around the world where able to explore and discover things they could have never imagined doing before hand. TERM 4 Today DEFINITION 4 Even today the structure of DNA is significantly important to us! In health care we are able to diagnose diseases early on, in doing this we have created the opportunity to formulate new drugs to treat these diseases. TERM 5 Conclusion DEFINITION 5 If we didn't know the structure of DNA we would be taking a dramatic step backwards in Medical Science, and that is why even today we are learning about the great discovery of Francis Crick and James Watson!!
