Microsoft is one of leading manufactures in computer products, but they are also trying to make their presence known as a Fortune 500 company that adheres to the social responsibility with keeping the corporate responsibility intact. They achieve this by doing a multitude of steps, but it all starts with trust. People have been given this false since of security by technology companies with data breach’s and privacy concerns. Microsoft is trying to bridge that gap by giving back to their community and improving the trust people instill in them with their information, becoming a more sustainability company, and helping the growth of the technology industry, to help boost their corporate and social responsibilities. Brad Smith, president of Microsoft wrote a book called Tools and Weapons referring to Artificial Intelligence. Chief executive officer Satya Nadella wrote a LinkedIn post about empowering trust from people about technology, but most people fear the internet because of the privacy and fear of their personal information being used without their consent. Nadella was asked during an interview on how he would bridge the gap between the trust people have in the 3 internet. His response was “referring back to his colleague, Smith, and stated that the title of his book was the perfect example, affirming with Smith, that the world of technology is seen in today’s world as both a tool and a weapon” (Nusca, 2020). Nadella went on to explain that he wants Microsoft to help bridge that gap by achieving three tasks, first is closing the gap of non- trust thatpeople developed with technology companies due to the privacy breaches, second, is ensuring that not only is the technology industry growing but all industries, and third would be sustainability because without the growth of humans and technology, the planet would be the same” ”(Nusca, 2020). Microsoft can help achieve these three items by “leveraging the talent and resources from multiple industries to help Microsoft learn how they can be influencing and growing the technology industry to achieve trust from the consumers”(Nusca, 2020). Microsoft is a leader in the technology world and are looking into multiple things to help increase their carbon footprint in the digital world while decreasing carbon footprint in the physical one, and helping to influence other companies to do the same. Furthermore, Microsoft has many stakeholders that have invested physically, emotional and financially in their business initiatives. For example, Americans with disabilities is a major stakeholder for Microsoft because “Microsoftis helping improve technology to help Americans and other humans with disabilities feel more included in the workplace” (Klein, Schmeling &Blanck, 2005). Microsoft has incorporated thisinitiative as a way to help those feel included and not looked at in a different manner just because they look different or act different. “Technology companies may not require as much physical activity then other industries, but they do require more intellectual skills, therefore people with disabilities have an even playing field when it comes to being employed” (Klein, Schmeling &Blanck, 2005). In helping develop this strategy, Microsoft is following the first two parts of the Shingo Method showing that they
