Reaction Paper on Western Science and Traditional Knowledge by Fulvio Mazzocchi Fulvio Mazzocchi, a researcher from the Institute for Atmospheric Pollution of CNR, Moneterotondo, Italy, wrote an article work entitled "Western science and traditional knowledge" (EMBORep. 2006 May,). The article focuses on the various perspectives between traditional knowledge and western or modern science. Mazzocchi introduces the history of Western science and traditional knowledge. He also compares and contrasts their approaches to learning about the natural world. "All representations of reality are expressions of the same cognitive features that are inherent in human nature," says the quotation, emphasizing the need to recognize these two methods of knowledge. It enlightened me to learn that western science is predicated on literate and academic transmission, whereas traditional wisdom is frequently passed down orally from one generation to generation by elders. There is a significant distinction between the two, and scientists generally distinguish it. Differentiate between scientific knowledge and traditional knowledge by saying that science is universal, whereas traditional knowledge is limited to specific people and their understanding of the world. Furthermore, western science and traditional knowledge reflect two opposing perspectives on the world around us. Science focuses on individual pieces, whereas traditional knowledge holistically gives information about the world. Reading the article has opened my eyes to the fact that things have changed in the last several years. "Traditional knowledge has developed a concept of the environment that emphasizes the symbiotic character of humans and nature," according to the article. Those who culturally practice traditional knowledge have discovered a way for humans and nature to coexist through a mutual process of giving and taking. This comprehensive approach is something I feel humans should think about as they progress. We could mitigate the negative consequences of our growth if we paid this
