More to Self - A Journal Entry about Myself, Essays (high school) of English

Nowadays, people tend to think and do almost everything for themselves which usually they call as self-love, self-care and the like. I am not saying that this is entirely wrong. The idea that it suggests to take care of self is never wrong, but anything extreme won’t actually bring us any good. I believe that there is more to self that should motivate us to live a fulfilled and purposeful life.

Tabuzo Jr. Journal Entry #2 STEM 11-10 November 3, 2020 Nowadays, people tend to think and do almost everything for themselves which usually they call as self-love, self-care and the like. I am not saying that this is entirely wrong. The idea that it suggests to take care of self is never wrong, but anything extreme won’t actually bring us any good. I believe that there is more to self that should motivate us to live a fulfilled and purposeful life. Humility is the trait that we need to see the reality about ourselves and who we really are. It shows us that we have imperfections and underlies a teachable mindset. As said in Galatians 6:3, “If anyone thinks he is something, when he is nothing, he deceives himself”. A humble mind and a willingness to learn helps us to see a wider picture of ourselves in a deeper perspective. It helps us to make change possible and teaches us to accept that we aren’t perfect. While other people spend more of their time and money in enhancing their physical appearances, on the other hand, they hold back the real growth when we should put our attention in much important aspects to achieve a balanced life. All of these things are interconnected. The body provides a place to house the spirit (often experienced as feelings) and the mind (often experienced as thought). The mind is important as it directs the other aspects. Without the mind, we cannot know what to do and process the information that will be manifested by the body and responded with our emotions. We may have stored both healthy and destructive thoughts and beliefs in our mind, but then, we make a response to its circumstance in the most prominent manner. Also, the mind provides access to creativity and serenity which are necessary for actions such as prayer, forgiveness, acceptance, and passion. Truly, I am also a person who gives more time on enhancing my physical look, but what’s important there is, I learn to pursue my growth in other areas. As I grow older, my realization on the value and significance of one’s inner character increases. Because I have known myself better as I become an adolescent, I become self-conscious on the changes during my puberty stage. My mood also become dependent on my situation. I become more aware on my surroundings. My spiritual concerns widen as I seek for answers to questions related to the More to Self
