Miracle Season Movie review Miracle Season is based on a true story that took place in 2011 and was transformed into a tragic, yet inspiring, movie in 2018. Sean McNamara is the director while starring Danika Yarosh, Erin Moriarty, Helen Hunt, and William Hurt, ina mournful and heartfelt story that is incredibly inspiring to all. Although during sports, you think of an active, energetic, and a determined season, that wasn’t the start for the Iowa City West High School team. The Iowa City West High School team goes through a tragic change they need to overcome, and how it inspires them to push forth their efforts to honor Caroline Found [Danika Yorosh], who had unfortunate events placed onto her. Even though it’s a true story of a sad event, it’s meant to be conveyed through a positive viewpoint where everyone works to stay wholesome, spirited, and optimistic through the hardships in order to reach their goal. I am impressed with how the story made a turnaround, as it was focused as a sad story, but looking past the distraught, there was gratitude brought out in all of the players, coaches, and even students. The movie is also innovative, yet common, it’s a plot that occurs a lot in film making, but how it’s original is it is a true event. It’s relevant to unfortunate events and how to come back from them; the movie uses Caroline as a pass-by event, so not the main event, but an event that pushes the characters to reach the main point. Other movies that tend to have similar plots focus on the death and sorrow for most of the movie, choosing that as the most important part. It also connects to real-life giving an insight on how people grieve over a friend or family member, and how it affects them physically and mentally. This is really shown through Caroline’s best friend Kelley Fliehler [Erin Moriarty]. Also, it shows how people learn to cope and overcome traumatic events, in order to remember, but carry on with their lives for the better. A strong point in the movie was that everyone needed to stick together; one person doesn’t make a team, you need multiple people to work together in order to reach success. The Iowa City West High School team had to work together to build back strength to recover; nobody was able to recuperate alone. Kelley tried and failed on her own, only to be encouraged by their coach Kathy Bresnahan [Helen Hunt], to work through the problem like a team. Also, the team displays natural progression over the grief of Caroline, the energetic player that was loved by all. Players, coaches, students, teachers, and townspeople were all slowly recovering together, honoring Caroline by sharing past memories, supporting, and working to win the season. A lower point is the movie is about Caroline Found, but it also mainly focuses on the best friend, Kelley, which gives the effect that the movie is more about her than Caroline. Kelley is the character that is seen as a developing character gaining confidence and becoming a new person. Also, it focuses on how Kelley was the one who started bringing everyone together and works their way out of their dark thoughts,
