TERM 9 Burlesque DEFINITION 9 Burlesque is a humorous theatrical entertainment involving parody and sometimes grotesque exaggeration. In America, it was essentially a classy syriptease. TERM 10 Minstrel Shows DEFINITION 10 The minstrel show, or minstrelsy, was an American entertainment consisting of comic skits, variety acts, dancing, and music, performed by white people in blackface or, especially after the Civil War, black people in blackface.
