LEAD IMPLEMENTING ORGANIZATION: Tagum City United Pride Movement PARTICIPANTS /BENEFICIARIES : LGBTQ youth who ages 15-30 years old LGBTQ who suffer or are bullied in their homes and schools [] LGBTQ youth who are homeless, living in the streets ] LGBTQ youth who are conflicted because of their religious beliefs DATE: LOCATION: AVR 4 New City Hall Tagum City RATIONALE In recent years, there has been more openness in Philippines to address the rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) communities. Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have had greater visibility as they reach out to the public, media have reported positive messages on the issues faced by the LGBT community, and institutions within the government and National Assembly have increasingly invited representatives of the LGBT community to discuss same-sex marriage and other issues affecting the community. Although LGBT are not criminalized, they still face severe stigma and discrimination at individual, family and community levels, which impedes their access to health and social services and at times negatively impacts their education and employment opportunities. Moreover , 51.5% of LGBTQ youth responded that they were insulted verbally, and 20% have been threatened with physical violence or have had their possessions ruined. 13.8% were spat on, 18.5% had stuff thrown at them, 10.8% were sexually abused, and more than 10% have been assaulted by punching, kicking, or even weapons. (National Youth Policy Institute, A Study of the L ives of Sexual Minority Y ouths , 2006) In that sense ,Tagum City United Pride Movement proposed to conduct a free counseling , LGBT seminar and Short Term Assistance Program (Giving School Supply and Food Assistance )for our LGBTQI+ members. The organization aims to uplift the morale and enhance their self-esteem and recovery from trauma, stress, depression, and anger. This will provide opportunity to engage ,educate and to empower them. Thus ,through this RAINBOW YOUTH SAFE SPACE PROJECT we can able to promote our core advocacy which is equality and to break the stigma and discrimination among LGBTQ+ OBJECTIVE Tagum City United Pride Movement sought to achieve the following objectives through Rainbow Youth Safe Space Project. - Address stigma and discrimination among LGBTQI+ member. - Educate the LGBT youth on their responsibility in the community and the school. - Provide seminar and counseling for LGBTQI+ member who suffer from bullying. -Provide Assistance like School Supplies, Food and other necessary Assistance. - Engage them with the Social Activity.
