Dr. Guizano St., Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan College of Criminal Justice Education I N T R O D U C T I O N In order to prepare students for the workplace and their future careers, on- the-job training is a required component of college curriculum. It is a form of skill development where a person picks up the necessary knowledge via actual job experience. On-the-Job Training is a method that students are exposed to various workplace scenarios in order to offer them the chance to put into practice the concepts and skills that they have learned in the classroom. Additionally, functioning in a real-world workplace environment aids students in gaining pertinent information and abilities. OJT is crucial for teaching students about their chosen careers as well as for exposing them to the realities of the workplace. The real work associated with the course they are taking will be presented to the students. Additionally, it enables individuals without any prior expertise to work while learning. On-the-Job Training enables the student to put what he has learned in school into practice and learn more about his chosen area. It aids in increasing the trainee's level of competence. Naturally, a pupil who is capable enough will be able to complete tasks satisfactorily. One's professionalism in interacting with others is enhanced by this course of action. After the course, the learner will be equipped to deal with circumstances appropriately and to know how to get along with his coworkers. Additionally, he will be able to get along with everyone and work effectively in a team. OJT also strengthens the student's discipline and critical thinking skills as they complete their training in running an organization. He will become better at making wise selections and assessing important variables. Future professionals can better prepare for their future professions by receiving suitable on-the-job training. Even the minor things that the students discovered during their on-the-job training can be used when they are already employed. Students will get social as well as intellectual training. They won't have any issues with how they operate or interact with people going forward. The opportunity to fully immerse oneself in his chosen sector, gain experience, and develop the skills required for the industry of his choice is also provided to the trainee. Working with knowledgeable people will allow you to see the project done correctly. Republic of the Philippines ERHARD SCIENCE COLLEGE INC. Dr. Guizano St., Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan College of Criminal Justice Education BUREAU / AGENCY P R O F I L E BALIWAG MUNICIPAL JAIL PROVINCE OF BULANCAN As one of the five pillars of the Criminal Justice System, the BJMP was created to address growing concern of jail management and penology problem. Primarily, its clients are detainees accused before a court who are temporarily confined in such jails while undergoing investigation, waiting final judgement and those who are serving sentence promulgated by the court 3 years and below. As provided for under R.A. No. 6975, the Jail Bureau is mandated to take operational and administrative control over all city, district and municipal jails. The Bureau has four major areas of rehabilitation program, namely: Livelihood Projects, Educational and Vocational Training, Recreation and Sports, and Religious/ Spiritual Activities. These were continuously implemented to eliminate the offenders' pattern of criminal behavior and to reform them to become law-abiding and productive citizens. Although the workplace of the Jail Bureau is confined inside the portals of jail to safeguard PDL, nonetheless, the Bureau has an inherent function of informing the public of jail operations and other matters concerning the corrections pillar of the Philippines. Coincidentally, being a new and growing Bureau, BJMP aims to keep the public abreast of information regarding jail management and penology. Republic of the Philippines ERHARD SCIENCE COLLEGE INC. Dr. Guizano St., Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan College of Criminal Justice Education BJMP BADGE The BJMP badge that is about to be pinned on your left chest is the symbol of legal authority. It is placed near your heart to remind you of the fidelity and dedication expected of you as public servants. This badge to be entrusted to you symbolizes your worthiness as a jail officer – worthiness to safekeep and develop the lawless elements of our society, our clients – the Persons Deprived of Liberty. The badge is a reminder for you to always render the highest form of public service with commitment of sacrifice and even willingness to die in service of God, the country and its people. This badge reminds you to maintain the dignity of your character at all times. Now, the challenge once you receive the badge is for you to walk tall, head up and bravely face the daily risks and perils of your duty. Keep the badge unblemished and free from any breach of fidelity. By the regularity of your conduct, always endeavor to avoid any aspersion against our institution. You are to preserve our cherished customs and traditions and never countenance any deviation from them nor allow them to be overstepped. Your dignity as a jail officer is symbolized by the badge that is to be pinned on your heart. Never swerve from your solemn oath of office, nor violate your vows or betray the trust of the public. Dr. Guizano St., Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan College of Criminal Justice Education WEEK 2 I was not able to render my duty from April 5 and 6 due to holy week traditions. I requested and was given permission by our OIC for my absences. This week I learn about the Therapeutic Community Modalities Program (TCMP) inside the jail. I am able to apply the knowledge and theories taught to us in school about the subject. It starts with the raising of the Philippine Flag and Singing of our National Anthem, followed by the concept of the day and announcements. They performed a short newscasting for general information and awareness of situations outside of the jail. They also express their gratitude towards the jail officers and appreciation towards their relationship with one another. Finally, is the entertainment, it is time for them to enjoy, to sing and dance or even recite a poem. Republic of the Philippines ERHARD SCIENCE COLLEGE INC. First the Jail receives a letter issued by the court saying that the pdl is about to be admitted to the jail or to be released from the jail; either for transfer to another facility or the pdl has rendered his/her sentence. The jail will go through the release preparations, then the pre- release process of the custody of the said pdl, then the transfer of custody and supervision. Finally, the process of authenticating the originality or the genuineness and credibility of the documents by requesting the Certificate of Court Clearance from the Court where the PDL’s Trial took place. From there if there were no issue the pdl can finally be released or transferred. Republic of the Philippines ERHARD SCIENCE COLLEGE INC. Dr. Guizano St., Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan College of Criminal Justice Education C O N C LU S I O N Experience is the best teacher there is, absolutely no exception. I utilized this on-the-job training as a foundation toward achieving my lifelong objective of becoming a law enforcer. I was motivated by the advice provided to take my academic endeavors more seriously and deliberately. I received encouragement to work harder on my academics. I'm driven to pursue a career like those in law enforcement since the Bureau from which I obtained my training, they have provided me with a glimpse into what they do and as to what I would be too. Despite the brief duration of my training, the experience was nevertheless quite beneficial. The training boosted my sense of competence and laid the groundwork for me to someday be an exceptional worker. As a student pursuing a bachelor's degree in Criminology, it had a profound impact on me. I felt truly inspired. I was able to hone my persuasive abilities in both words and deeds. I gained an understanding from this program how important it is to be knowledgeable about as well as passionate about everything that you do. As a student, all I can do right now is study as much as I can in class, find inspiration, appreciate the road I'm on, and give anything I can to accomplish the greatest effort while maintaining a positive mindset. I came to the realization that I needed to sharpen my academic concentration and offer everything I had. Knowing that one can have accomplished something is also incredibly heartwarming, and it is even more heartwarming when others are so happy of what you have done, as I experienced during my on-the-job training. It influenced me to consider everything I do in my daily existence as a student today and as a professional in the future with greater grit and competitiveness. My on-the-job training has been and will continue to be incredibly beneficial to me as a fourth-year student taking up the course of bachelor of science in criminology. It truly prepared me an overview of what life is like in the real world and a hint of what is to come once I graduate. Republic of the Philippines ERHARD SCIENCE COLLEGE INC.
