It's more fantastic than any dream made or paid for in factories. Ask for no guarantees, ask for no security.” (Bradbury, 2021) Most of the people travel in order to enjoy and to view the natural beauty of a place. They think visiting a place is worth than any paid work in factories as they get to explore the world around them and learn new skills. However, some people also travel for business reasons. Tourism has too many positives as it develops various industries in a country which includes transportation, air travel, accommodation, entertainment and food industry. Tourism not only benefits the government of the country by generating more revenue. It also provides benefits to the native people living in the country as it creates jobs for the people such as management in a hotel which eventually helps the local government to earn more revenue. Tourism promotes international connections which means more corporation and more business activities in the region. It also builds up cross-cultural connections with the local people as it allows foreigners to interact and meet the locals. Tourism can also put a place on the map meaning it has a chance to prove itself to other nations, improve its image as the government tries to develop the infrastructure of a nation such as development of local facilities and roads. A country like India has great tourism sites and attraction. One of the tourist site there is Taj Mahal which is the white marble mausoleum situated in Agra. This building has great history behind it. It was named after Mumtaz Mahal, who was the wife of emperor Shah Jahan. After her death, Shah Jahan began the work. It is a building which signifies culture by representing Islamic designs and symbol of love as this building was constructed by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife. Kamlesh Kumar Page 6 of 8 NCC Final EAP Submission.docx There are other tourist attractions of India too, which are the beaches of Goa which serve as the great tourist site for tourists. Another example of tourist place in India is Harmandir Sahib. It is a religious place for Sikhs. It is also known as “The Golden Temple of Amritsar”. It attracts Hindus and people from other belief. In this way, tourists get to be more open-minded as they accept all religions and identify reasons for the celebration of their festivals. At the same time, it is obligatory for tourists to visit this place covering their head. Covering your head is mandatory for tourists which is a way of showing respect to this holy place. The government in some countries provide us limited security for tourism. Thereby tourists do not like to travel to a place where there is limited security for them. There are a lot tourist sites in northern areas of Pakistan, but tourists are less willing to take risks as they think Pakistan is not secured place. Pakistan had many years of violence and struggle therefore, they have this misconception in their mind. But however, that’s not the case, Pakistan is safe for the foreigners and locals now. Tourists can visit Fairy Medows, Swat Valley and Hunza Valley. Nanga Parbat peak is located at the front of Fairy Medows which is best place for tourists to visit. The Swat Valley is also known as “Pakistan East Switzerland” (Hussain, 2019). Furthermore, tourists can visit Malam Jabba which is considered to be the most famous ski resort in Swat Valley. Some visitors also visit these beautiful places for trekking whereas, other people also visit these tourist places to enjoy the weather. Tourists can try experience of riding a jet ski for $6 in Attabad Lake, located in Hunza Valley which is very cheap amount for tourists. Secondly, the weather of Hunza Valley is too beautiful that tourists enjoy this place very much. Pakistan nationals also provide good hospitality. Therefore, Pakistan is good option for travelling for the visitors as Pakistan government has ensured they provide good security to tourists. Some of the opportunities for tourism could include good healthcare facilities to promote this industry including sick pays and pensions provided to the workers. At the same time, the government needs to create jobs for people who work for seasonal time so, they can make their earning for living. Besides this, tourists should respect the local people of the area and should try to not cause pollution. In this way, tourists will develop cross culture relations with each other and at the same time, they will do no harm to the environment. However, there are also negatives of tourism as it can affect the lifestyle of the living people. A very large number of tourists can affect the beauty of the place too. They can cause damage to the environment and as a result, it can cause pollution. They can also cause damage to the monuments which will be no longer available for memory for people. Tourism means use of natural resources which means over-consumption of many resources like water and food which are already limited for the local people in some places. Other disadvantages will be culture clash. Since most of tourists have lack of respect for others culture, they behave as if they have the right culture and religion only. Therefore, they behave roughly to the local people living in the tourist area. Thereby they don’t give much respect to the locals. Lastly, tourism jobs are only available for seasonal time. Therefore, there are not too Kamlesh Kumar Page 7 of 8 NCC Final EAP Submission.docx many benefits available for the workers working in this industry. There are no healthcare facilities, sick pay and pensions provided to the workers working in this industry. Although there are too many benefits of tourism to a nation. There are also drawbacks for promoting tourism. I think tourism should be promoted with keeping regulation of laws and ensuring there is safety for the tourists. There should be a law to dump your wastage into a bin for tourists and locals. At the same time, government should also place bins in the public place. This will prevent tourists from causing pollution and affecting the environment. There should be officers especially, appointed to regulate the environment of a tourist place and ensuring there is safety for tourists.
