Topics include the concepts of the soul (atman/brahman in hinduism, anatman in buddhism), the eternal supreme being (brahman/brahma in hinduism, nirvana in buddhism, allah in islam), duty (dharma in hinduism, karma in buddhism, shahada in islam), reincarnation and liberation (samsara and nirvana in hinduism, nibbana in buddhism), sacred scriptures (vedas in hinduism, suttas in buddhism, qur’an and hadith in islam), and various rituals and practices unique to each religion.

State where one is released from dukkha and tanha. Reached through enlightenment. Bodhisattva- one who choses to remain in samsara to help others reach enlightenment. Suttas- sacred scripture. Islam: Shahada- “witnessing”. Confessing your faith that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is his messenger Zakat- Almsgiving. 2.5% or one-fortieth of your income. Salat- Prayer. 5 times daily. Sawm- Fasting during the month of Ramadan. Hajj- Pilgrimage to Makka Hallal- “permissible”. Similar to kosher Haraam- “prohibited” food or activities. Qur’an- sacred scripture. Hadith- commentary on the sayings and actions of Muhammad. Not scripture.
