ABOUT US With over a decade of success, Oak3 Films has earned a reputation for film and television productions of the highest quality - from documentary projects to children’s programming, conceptualizing to final completion, producing to directing. We boast a multi-cultural team that brings a cosmopolitan richness in our approach to work. After an established reputation for high quality work in the region, we began our foray into the international arena. The Gods Must Be Hungry, a documentary co-produced with Discovery Asia, broke new ground in 2003 when it was rated the programme with the highest viewership in 10 years for Discovery Asia. Other international co productions with Discovery Asia includes Fun Taiwan, a 13 episode Travel and Adventure program and we have also produced an episode for the prestigious Caltex Crossings Belt on Discovery Asia entitled, Crossings - Ju Ming, which is a biography of a Taiwanese sculptor. In 2004, Oak3 Films embarked on a first ever Germany - Singapore coproduction, House of Harmony, a 2 part mini series with FFP New Media GmbH and ZDF. Adapted from a novel by international best-selling author, Barbara Wood, this series premiered on ZDF to 6 million viewers throughout Europe. Sense of Danger, a Post Tsunami documentary, shot in Thailand, Japan, Germany and America, a co- production with Eikon Media GmbH (Germany) for ARTE channel (Germany and France) premiered in December 2005 to commemorate the anniversary of the Asian Tsunami received overwhelming appreciation and support. Our commitment to nature and conservation extends to our latest documentary for Animal Planet. Traditionally, wild bears killed for their bile duct for medicinal properties, and today bear farming and milking of the bile is still a painful and cruel process. Moon Bears, a 60 minutes documentary narrated by the well-known British actor Stephen Fry, which is shot on HD in Chengdu, China, aims to educate the public on Bear conservation. Missing Star, a feature film co production with Cattleya Films (Italy) alongside award winning Italian director Gianni Amelio, shot in China and Italy, was in competition and premiered to a worldwide audience at the 2006 Venice Film Festival and screened at Toronto Film Festival in the Masters Section. In 2006, we partnered with RGM holdings and Furst Films, to associate produce Girl in the Park, adapted from a movel by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and director, David Auburn, shot in the United States. 5 Star Insider, a 10 episode documentary, with Landmark Television (Australia) for Discovery Inc about opulent resorts around the world, has won an award at the Asian Television Awards 2007. We also completed a 10 episode documentary series about sport science which features world renowned sporting greats such as Thierry Henry, Jonah Lomu and Haile Gerbrselassie, The Difference, with ESPN STAR Sports. Oak3 embarked on its first documentary for Korea, Raiders of the Sulu Sea, a co-production with Oak3 Films Pte Ltd, Oak3 Films Canada Inc, Q Channel, Korean Broadcasting Commission and Media Authority of Singapore in 2007. In 2008, Oak3 completed its first documentary for National Geographic Channel, Scuba Car, an exclusive peek into the mind of one of the world’s top car designers, Frank Rinderknecht’s Rinspeed Design, building one of the kind concept car at a cost of over one million Euros and incorporating the most advanced technology available. in 2009, feature film, Here, a co-production between Oak3 Films, Akanga Films and GSM Media, was officially invited for the 31st Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2009. Oak3 also just completed production of another feature film, Blood Ties, a supernatural thriller – a co-production between Oak3 Films, Hot Cider Films and Singapore Film Commission, which premiered in September 2009. Oak3 Films is currently collaborating with producers from three other countries on a global multi-platform documentary called Extinctions, a six-part series in high definition, featuring endangered species to be aired in France 5, RTBF (Belgium), Hi-Fidelity HDTV (Canada) and distributed worldwide by Marathon International. And co-producing with UK and Chinese producers on a six-part series, Monumental Challenge, for HISTORY featuring 6 of the world’s greatest monuments including the Eiffel Tower and the Taj Mahal. MONUMENTAL CHALLENGE The series takes an in-depth and intimate look at six of the world’s greatest monuments being restored as well as the army of people who are constantly racing against deadlines to keep the iconic structures standing for many to enjoy.
