Download Online Classes Requirements and more Assignments Research Methodology in PDF only on Docsity! To our fellow panelists and research adviser, Good day! Before we get started, we would like to introduce ourselves first. We are the researchers from 12 Stem Kestrel and we’re glad to be here with you today. Title Our research study is entitled “Average Screen Time of FTTS High School Students During Online Class and School works.”, To explain further our title, this study is about the screen time students take up daily during their online classes, studies, and requirements. With the presence of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, face-to-face classes were temporarily stopped, which resulted in education being pursued through a new normal of learning, which is the Online Class. This study is relevant because online classes have become the new normal of learning. It lets students pursue their education and at the same time, they are safe from getting infected by the coronavirus. The concept of this study was developed because the majority of the students today spend most of their time attending classes and doing requirements on their devices, such as laptops, PCs, and mobile phones. With this time of pandemic, students’ screen time obviously increases since they are practically glued to their gadgets as a means of coping with their education and connecting with others through social media and gaming. That’s why we came up with this study not just to gain knowledge about it but this will also serve help to the students to manage their screen time and balance their daily activities. Assumptions For the statement of the problem 1 the assumption that we came up is… and for the statement of the problem 2 the assumption that we came up is… These assumptions were based on our observation like we observed on average, a high school student spends 4-5 hours of their day attending at least 4-5 subjects per day, with each class lasting up to an hour. Afterwards, students have to comply to requirements needed within the week, such as quizzes, modules, and other written works. We observed that on average, this can take up to 1-3 hours, depending on how heavy the workload of the student is. Due to this, students have to learn how to manage their schedule in order to accomplish their tasks, both at school and also at their homes. That’s why with these number of hours we estimated for the statement of the problem 1 that students most likely spend 7 hours on their devices. However, we also observed that not all students are privileged with time management skills or the chance to balance their home and school life. Thus, we have come to these assumptions for the statement of the problem 2 that not 100% of students have a balanced schedule even with the knowledge that they spend 7 hours a day on their devices. Research Design Since our research follows a quantitative design, we used surveying in order to gather numerical data as a means to precisely interpret the answers of our demographic and measure it with regard to our study’s focus. Moreover, like what my co-researcher said a while ago, since our surveying resources are limited due to online classes, we decided to utilize online platforms such as online questionnaire forms to conduct our surveys. Matrix Next, the question that is also aligned with the statement of the problem 1 is… In order to measure the opinions of students regarding their experience with screen time and its balance with distance learning, we had to pose this query. This question also provides us with an insight as to whether or not the screen time of students meets the recommendation from DepEd and other institutions. looked forward to spending it by making lasting memories at school before they part for senior high school. Moreover, being the “graduating” students of the junior high school department, these students have the heaviest workload out of all grade levels. Conclusion Based on the gathered results, it was expressed that numerous respondents agreed that the screen time on distance learning due to inability to have sufficient normal learning strategies are complicated. The screen time exceeded its limit, which also means that the stress and burden in overall health of the learner and the teacher has also added as a problem. Furthermore, those who answered opposingly believes that the screen time is enough for them to rest and obtain knowledge appropriate for their accessibility. Virtual Learning will surely be accommodated as long as the complications of fulfilling a normal method of education is there. Nevertheless, the adjustments of the students especially to those who aren't used to it (particularly teenagers) have struggled a lot in the past ten months of implementation of Online Learning, however, what we can recommend is to have self-flexibility and time management in order to sustain a healthy learning status. Moreover, since screen time also affects the sleep cycle of the student and the teacher it is also recommended that there are more offline methods that could be adapted in order to continue the learning curve without having to add another gap between education and the students. Like what I’ve also said earlier, we could also recommend to look at things from a medical perspective and conduct a blended learning. How are you going to execute that conclusion? We can execute this conclusion by using it as inspiration to others especially to those people who are focused to benefit from this study. How significant is your conclusion? The conclusion was significant to the study of evaluating the overall effects of online learning on students as it may serve as an avenue in discovering more effective learning medium for students that are also more inclusive and readily accessible. Moreover, it can also help the stakeholders identify how to find a school-life balance amidst the pandemic in order to cope with online learning. What will be the impact of conclusion? The study conducted by the researcher hold a significant impact on understanding the struggles of students in learning through an online medium. By evaluating how excessive screen time affects their learning and overall health and well-being, stakeholders such as parents, students, teachers, other researchers, and agencies such as the DepEd can derive a clear perspective on what must be done to better the future of online education. What can we get out of the results of your study? From this, responsible agencies such as CHED and DepEd may reevaluate their instated policies and methods of online learning in favor of a more inclusive and accessible method. Students may find a reprieve when their struggles are heard and understood. Finally, future researchers may use this study as a guide to further research in the effects of online classes to learners.
