(2 Marks) (ii) List, and elaborate briefly on, the five generic process framework activities that may be used as a basis for describing and/or evaluating software process models which are applicable to the vast majority of software projects. (5 Marks) (iii) In addition to framework activities, the software process framework encompasses a set of umbrella activities that are applicable across the entire software process. List and elaborate briefly on any five such typical umbrella activities. (5 Marks) (b) Explain the evolutionary process model known as protopying. Your presentation should include details of any claimed advantages and/or disadvantages. Support your presentation with appropriate illustration(s). (7 Marks) (c) Elaborate on the agile process model known as Dynamic Systems Development Method, DSDM. Support your presentation with appropriate illustration(s). (6 Marks) Q2. (a) Use-cases provide a software team with insight into software scope and requirements. However, developing an estimation approach with use-cases is problematic. Discuss. (10 Marks) (b) Requirements for an agile project are defined as a set of user scenarios. Consequently, it is possible to develop an estimation approach that is informal, yet reasonably disciplined and meaningful within the context of project planning for each software increment. Explain the steps involved in developing effort estimates for a software project when an agile process is applied. (8 Marks) (c) Elaborate on the process known as “outsourcing” as applied to software projects. Your presentation should pay particular attention to both Strategic and tactical issues, as well as to the advantages and/or disadvantages. (7 Marks) Q3. (a) According to Capers Jones, “excessive or irrational schedules are probably the single most destructive influence in all of Software”. (i) Give five root causes for the late delivery of software. (5 Marks) (ii) Identify and elaborate on the steps that you would recommend a software developer undertake when faced with an unrealistic/impossible project deadline. (7 Marks)
