PERSONALITY DISORDERS Cluster A (odd or eccentric type) Cluster B (erratic, dramatic or emotional type) Cluster C (anxious or fearful type) Paranoid Personality Disorder: Pervasive pattern of distrust and suspicion of others such that their motives are interpreted as malevolent Antisocial Personality Disorder: pervasive pattern of disregard for rules and violations of rights of others (before 15; failure to conform to social norms; likely to have lack of empathy Avoidant Personality Disorder: pervasive social inhibition, feelings of inadequacy and hypersensivity to negative evaluation; desires relationships, but avoids most unless certain of being liked or accepted. Schizoid Personality Disorder: pervasive pattern of detachment from social relationships and restricted range of expression of emotions in interpersonal settings. Has few if any close relationships; does not desire them. Borderline Personality Disorder: pervasive pattern of instability in relationships, self-image, affect or emotions and marked impulsivity Dependent Personality Disorder: pervasive and excessive need to be taken care of leading to clingy and submissive behavior and fears of separation Schizotypal Personality Disorder: pervasive pattern of social and interpersonal deficits marked by acute discomfort in social situations and reduced capacity for close relationships and cognitive or perceptual distortions and odd or eccentric behavior Histrionic Personality Disorder: pervasive pattern of excessive emotionality and attention seeking; uncomfortable if not the center of attention. May dress and act in order to draw attention to self. Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (not obsessive compulsive disorder): pervasive preoccupation with orderliness, perfection and mental and interpersonal control at the expense of flexibility, openness and efficiency Narcissistic Personality Disorder: pervasive pattern of grandiosity, need for admiration and lack of empathy. Thinks he or she is special and deserves special treatment.
