PHI-105 Critical Thinking Reflection Critical thinking, Lecture notes of Accounting

PHI-105 Critical Thinking Reflection Critical thinking is a term that many people may not quite fully grasp its intended meaning. The human mind is fascinating, to say the least. Humans can think, reason, make decisions, good or bad, and feel different emotions like love, hate, and empathy. Imagine a thousand super computers and the many millions of tasks they help humans do. A human beings brain is more powerful than those thousand super computers (Abitheira, n.d.). There are over 300 million people in the United States and the human brain can memorize each one of those peoples phone numbers. It is safe to say that nobody has ever memorized all the phone numbers in the United States, but that is just an example of how powerful the human brain is. Critical thinking is another example of how we can use our brains to make fact-based decisions that can help to solve problems. We use our brain to research, fact find, theorize, hypothesize, and make logical decisions. To think critical

The human mind is fascinating, to say the least. Humans can think, reason, make decisions, good or bad, and feel different emotions like love, hate, and empathy. Imagine a thousand super computers and the many millions of tasks they help humans do. A human being’s brain is more powerful than those thousand super computers (Abitheira, n.d.). There are over 300 million people in the United States and the human brain can memorize each one of those people’s phone numbers. To think critically, one must not think with emotion but make sound judgments based on facts. One part of critical thinking that is crucial to fact finding or research is asking questions. If a commercial comes on television telling consumers to purchase a certain kind of diet soda, it is up to that consumer to ask why they should purchase that particular brand of soda. In other words, the consumer would be asking for a justification for purchasing that brand of diet soda (Bowell & Kemp, 2002).Critical thinking is an important tool, not only for the person presenting a persuasive argument, or essay, but also for the audience. An audience needs to have the 2 capability to use critical thinking to be able to logically determine whether the argument is sound or not. There must a clear meaning of the reliability of the argument being made. Critical thinking plays a major role in how a person lives their daily lives. While in a discussion, critical thinking must be used to make clear and sound decisions. If emotion is involved in a discussion, a person may not see the situation for what it really is and make poor judgments. In doing research, critical thinking will help sort out facts from fiction which will help to create a strong, persuasive essay. References
