GRANVILLE OL NOTES (2021 WEEK 11) Regardless of our opponent, we are playing against the expectations of Watterson Football, and those expectations are high! That means whether it is Week 1, 2 or 15, we are focused and giving 100% physically and mentally on every rep! Everyone on the OL is EXPECTED to watch film. For anyone who does not understand what watching film really is, see below: O You are all Linemen. As such, you have no reason to watch the ball. Do not get caught up watching the game. O Watch the position(s) you play and how the defense lines up. ¢ i.e., Do the DEs always play the same side, or do they switch with the strength/line up to field or boundary? What about the LBs? Does the line stunt, slant... if so, is there anything that tells us which way they will do it (slant to the strength, the field...)? If they twist, does the 3 always go before the 5? Number XX is always the DE over the Right Tackle, does he like to bull rush, swim...? These are the things you need to know going into a game. If you are watching film and have a question, text or call me. ¢ Points of Emphasis: O EFFORT EFFORT EFFORT O Technique ¢ Eyes Up * Correct Steps ¢ Hands Inside Oo PLAY THROUGH THE FREAKING WHISTLE! ¢ CONSIDER THIS YOUR WARINING- IF YOU DO NOT PLAY THROUGH THE WHISTLE IN PRACTICE, YOU WILL NOT PLAY ON FRIDAY! e¢ Audibles: O At the line of scrimmage (LOS), if you hear “OVER” we are flipping the play Repeat the call! = ex: Wham Right is called in the huddle but at the LOS you hear “OVER.” We are now running Wham Left. ¢ CHANGES/ NEW PLAYS: We are going big on big with combos and “punch through’s” rather than our down blocking rules. Please see the pictures below for examples. By eliminating the down blocks, we take away what their DL does best which is wash you down and prevent you from getting to the 2™ level. = Back side does not change (i.e., still pull if you are supposed to, cutoff...) 41/42 = Back Side Tackles- Treat this like you are back side on 90s The pass plays that were previously 30s will now be 41/42 = Center blocks back on the 3 if applicable We are going back to running Speed like Doubles Sweep = Like Pitt/Philly but the Play Side Guard pulls Pen/Pencil = Play Side Tackle step inside and run your guy up field e ALIGNMENT: 0. They play a 3-man front, but not necessarily head up. If you have watched film or remember from Week 7, they slide a DT down to a 2/3 and they may move the Nose back and forth between a 0 anda 1. e RUNS/RPOs oooo0o00 0 Train Tomlin Doubles (Kick)/ Reds and Luke Speed/Rocket Power (Read) Chicago Pen/Pencil Sweep e SCREENS oO oO Oo Throwback Middle Tide (Special) = 30s Sweep Lt. Throwback Speed/ Rocket Lt. ¢ Note the only difference is the Y blocks the LB in Rocket whereas we read that LB in Speed. It is the same from Tackle to Tackle.
