Reviewer in Physical Education Physical Education - aims to develop students' physical competence and knowledge of movement and safety, and their ability to use these to perform in a wide range of activities associated with the development of an active and healthy lifestyle. LESSON 1 I. Effects of Physical Education to 4 aspects of life Physical Well-being: o Helps you attain good physical fitness. o Strengthen your bones and muscles. o Tones your body. o Improves coordination and flexibility o Improves appearance and posture. Adipose tissue – also known as body fat. In participating in physical activities, you are less likely to overeat, because this would affect a part of your brain, which is called the hypothalamus. Hypothalamus – part of the brain that controls appetite. Physical activities lower your chances to have diabetes, coronary heart disease, and colon cancer. Mental and Emotional Well-being: Physical activities improve the blood flow to your brain, making you more awake and alert, this also improves your self-esteem since when you further improve your skills, you will feel better about yourself. Physical activities also help you cope with stress, by exercising you relive the tension caused by stress. Aerobic exercises decrease overall levels of tension, elevates mood, improve sleep and self-esteem. Washing dishes could be significant stress reliever, increasing the feeling of inspiration by 25% and decreasing nervousness by 27%. Social Well-being: Engaging in such activities provides opportunities to meet new acquaintances, you can be around people that has the same interest as you have. Physical activities can increase your family time, you can build social relationships, and build new friendships.
