Reviewer in HOPE 3 • Physical Fitness- Ability of the whole body (muscles, skeleton, heart & other body parts) to work together efficiently. • HEALTH RELATED FITNESS CARDIOVASCULAR ENDURANCE- The ability to exercise the entire body for long periods of time. Requires a strong heart, healthy lungs & clear blood vessels to supply the body with O2. MUSCULAR STRENGTH-Amount of force you put forth with your muscles. FLEXIBILITY- Ability to use your joints fully. BODY COMPOSITION- Percentage of body weight that is fat compared to other body tissues, such as bone and muscle.  SKILL RELATED FITNESS AGILITY- Ability to change the position of your body quickly & to control the movement of your whole body. BALANCE- Ability to keep an upright posture while standing still or moving. COORDINATION-Ability to use your senses, such as your eyes, together with your body parts, such as your arms. POWER- Ability to do strength performances quickly. REACTION TIME-Amount of time it takes to get moving once you see the need to move. SPEED-Ability to perform a movement or cover a distance in a short period of time. Philippine Folk Dances Dance – form of expression of oneself through rhythmic movement. Folk Dance - oldest form of dance and earliest form of communication. Handed generation to generation. Folkdance aims to preserve the culture and tradition in the Philippines. Ramon Ubusan - Dance Researcher and Awarded as National Artist for Dance. Kulintang – primary instrument used in folk dance. Classification of Folkdance Cordillera Dance- Dance reflects rituals which celebrate their daily life. A good harvest, health peace, war and other symbol of living. Mostly this dance done in Bontoc, Ifugao, Benguet Apayao and Kalinga Tribes. Spanish Influenced Dance- Dances reflects Christianity and European Art, Moreover Philippine aristocrats created Filipino adaptations of European dances. Muslim Dance- Influenced by the Malay, Javanese and Middle Eastern Traders. Also uses intricate hand and arm movement the fingers express their feeling and emotions. Tribal Dance- Also known as Ethnic dance it reflects the rituals and animal beliefs in “spirit” and shaman nature- “anito”. Animal Sound, Human singing and Indigenous Materials are used in this particular dance. Rural Dance- Reflects the simple life of the people in barrios. Performed in Fiestas to honor patron saints. Example of Folk Dances by Classification Cordillera Dance  Bontoc – “Pattong”  Kalinga – “Banga” Spanish Influenced Dance  Jota  Habanera  Carinosa Muslim Dance  Maranao- “Singkil”  Tausug – “Pangalay” Tribal Dance  T’boli – “Madal Tahaw”  Manobo – “Bangkakaw” Rural Dance  Maglalatik  Saut sa Rarug  Tinikling Other Folk Dances Tinikling – is considered as national folk dance in the Philippines it’s a lively and flirtatious dance often performed in festive occasions. Also, it came from the word “tikling “means bird. Carinosa- is a kind of courtship dance that means affectionate one influenced by the Spaniards. Pangdango sa Ilaw- dance involves dancers moving gracefully and balancing oil lamps on their heads and hands, creating a mesmerizing display of lights. Itik- Itik – is a mimetic folk dance in the Philippines that mimics the movement of ducks.
