PowerPoint Presentation Lab: Creating an On-screen Presentation, Quizzes of Computer Science

A powerpoint presentation lab activity for students. The objective is to familiarize students with powerpoint by creating an on-screen presentation on a topic of their choice. Instructions on how to use the autocontent wizard, create slide types, and modify content. Students are required to have between 7-10 slides, including a title slide, bulleted list slide, chart slide, picture slide, and table slide.

Activity Five October 24th/25th 10 points Due: 11:59 p.m. Sunday, October 30th for MW sections 11:59 p.m. Monday, October 31st for TR sections Note: You will have a quiz covering PowerPoint on November 2nd/3rd The intent of this activity is to become familiar with the slide presentation software, PowerPoint. You will be creating an on-screen presentation. Feel free to choose a subject that interests you, such a hobby or leisure activity, or maybe a topic you have wanted to learn more about. 1. Start the PowerPoint Application. 2. Use the AutoContent Wizard as a guide to create your new presentation. a. After opening PowerPoint, look in the content bar on the right hand side. Click on General Template. b. In the window that opens, select the General tab. c. Choose AutoContent Wizard. This allows you to select the presentation type you are going to give. 3. You can choose any presentation type you want from the list, taking into consideration how the subject of your presentation might apply to the format. 4. Save your file as "Act5_lab section number_ last name.” 5. “Normal View” allows you to see a large version of the slide with either a thumbnail view or outline view on the left. Use "Outline View" to see all the slides in your presentation. You need between 7-10 slides for this activity. 6. Collect information from the web or other resource to modify the content of the slides created from the wizard. 7. Your presentation should have at least one of each of the following slide types:  title slide  bulleted list slide  chart slide (with text)  picture or image slide  table slide 8. Your TA will demonstrate how to change the background of your slides, move the slide order around, and delete slides. 9. Save your file often. 10. Be sure to keep a copy of this file because you will need it for the next activity. 11. Submit this file as you have submitted files for the previous activities.
