Ayop 12-STEM Practical Research 1 Midterm Exam The Effectiveness of Modular Learning Method in the New Normal Class to the Psychological and Social Aspects of the Students a. Modular learning as they say, is also a self-learning. This method is flexible as it can be, most especially in time. Self-pace learning as it is. Additionally, if ever learners will encounter difficult and complicated topics for them to understand, they may ask any websites to satisfy their confusions. Because of it’s flexibility, students often do procrastination. As what I have observed in this kind of method of learning through the learners here in our vicinity, almost of them did not prioritize their modules as they’ve already imparted on their minds that they still have a lot of time before it’s due date – the submission of modules – and sadly, because also of the reason that they have an answer key at the back of their module. Mostly were depending and just basing on it. Through this, the goal of students may alter to “acquiring only a direct answers” for the questionnaires from the certain topic instead of “acquiring knowledge” from the lesson and answer the questions through the learnings that have gained from the subject. Thus, how then was the edification – the intellectual improvement – of the students? Moreover, to the social aspect of every learners. This method tend to practice social isolation by means, learners may miss social physical interaction, consider a situation happen within the classroom. Students does not given an opportunity to work their oral communication skills – the interaction between the student to their co-student, students to their teachers – where in fact these skill is the most important and used to achieve a productive years. These disadvantages were contradicting the purpose, goal, and meaning of “learning” and or “schooling”, where the learners, “the students go to school and study to learn and acquire knowledge so that they may able to attain their fullest potential and be prepared for their future. This means that they have a voice with the confidence to express their ideas and opinions so they are heard and taken into account in any situation” - Kathleen McClaskey, 2016. Nevertheless, these all was only my mere observation and understanding regarding with this method
