Melanie has been within the organization for close to 10 years and enjoys her job; therefore, she would make a great trainer for new employees such as Tom. It would be significant to arrange for a proper mentorship program or develop new employee training workshops. This prevents her from using much of her day surfing social media sites. Employ training, seminars, or refresher courses to motivate Melanie and expose her to updated methods or thoughts. This is to minimize the complaints that she does not have any person to “admire” within the business. Increase her responsibilities. This is to minimize the monotony that leads to a lack of a need to improve herself. Patrick is a senior employee who is one year before his retirement. As the team leader, it is essential to notice a difference in handling senior employees and team members. First of all, it is essential to try not to make assumptions on whatever basis. Secondly, have it in mind that there is much difference, especially amid Melanie and Tom and Patrick (senior employee). Thirdly, communication is the key, especially that Patrick is undergoing a divorce and handling work assignments once. Therefore, it is best to be very clear in the duties assigned and less workload. Therefore, as a leader, Patrick ought to have a reduced workload considering his age difference, and the going on in his life and consider his greatest desire of the involvement with managerial decision-making processes within the organization. Also, recognize his experience and proficiency. Tom is the newest employee. It would motivate Tom to introduce new expertise as a leader. This is to minimize the instances where he is caught browsing salary surveys or private sector job listings. Also, provide Tom and the team with the training they require to improve their careers and turn out to be well-informed about the newest technologies and industry updates. Tom is an overly productive employee, set goals for himself and the other employees. This is to avoid wasted time at work because he may not be aware of what work is of primary concern and what is not. When he works best, gift him especially that Tom confesses that he is worried that he is producing much more than his salary appears to mirror (Otundo & Garn, 2020). Several motivation theories expound the case study. Nevertheless, the expectancy theory of motivation relates best to this case study setup. Vroom advanced this theory, explaining the process that employees go through when making choices. Mindfulness is a primordial practice currently being recognized by art and delivers this process. Unfortunately, regardless of its present-day trendiness, mindfulness in the commercial domain is frequently reduced to less beyond reducing stress, increased emphasis, and greater output. Whereas this has significance, it misses the complete influence that mindfulness can have on leaders, the general public, and entire schemes (Vallerand, et al., 2016).
