In the first cycle of Health Optimizing Physical Education Module 2 Set Fitness Goals several of points and objectives are assessed and addressed. As I dive in into the topic, three types of energy system are listed with their definitions and other important details that are connected to them. This shows how this energy systems where applied and manifested into our bodies. The module shows significant information about how energy is needed and how it produces physical movements, to maintain body temperature and to keep metabolic activities to function properly. Thus in order to make our body move we need a compound called adenosine triphosphate, and lucky for us it is stored in our muscles so it is quickly available to use. However, stored ATP in our muscles is limited and it can only be generated through aerobic respiration which requires oxygen and healthy breathing. There are three types of energy system I have learned in this module: ATP-PCr System, Glycolytic System and Oxidative System. This system also known as immediate energy system of our body serves as a pathway that fuels the body through all types of activity. It refers to the specific mechanism in which energy is produced and used by our bodies. These energy systems have its each functions and uses. ATP-PCr System or anaerobic system is the main energy provider for a high intensity activity or explosive movements of short duration, more likely up to 6-15 seconds because stored ATP-PCr in the muscle is limited. Glycolytic System on the other hand breaks down glucose that consist series of chemicals that reacts and controlled by enzymes. This contributes fast glycolytic system for the production of energy in a rapid increasing pace for initial 10-15 second of a high intensity movement or exercise. The last energy system is Oxidative System which is used for vigorous intensity movements. In this system carbohydrate and fats are the primary source of energy converted into ATP and this process takes place in the mitochondria of a cell. To sum it all, these three energy systems are very important for daily activitie,s that we can’t survive or even move without them. By moving our muscles we do our work and duties in life, we must be careful on keeping our body in a healthy or good shape. Exercise and good healthy habits are needed to be followed. By this, other people can see the benefits of physical exercise and healthy lifestyle, and they will be aware, and will also follow our footsteps in healthy living.
