Our A Level Religious studies specification will provide students with the exciting opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of word religions, and explore philosophy of religion, and religion and ethics. We as a department are striving to inspire students to engage in relevant topical issue and acquire knowledge and a critical understanding of major issues that are relevant to learners in the twenty-first century. Course Outline – Philosophy of Religion: 33.3% of total A-Level (Exam), Religion and Ethics: 33.3% of total A-level (Exam) & Developments in Religious thought: 33.3% of total A-Level (Exam).  How many exams will students sit? What coursework will they need to complete? Philosophy of Religion Exam: 120 marks, 3 essays each worth 40 marks, 2 hours to complete. Religion and Ethics Exam: 120 marks, 3 essays each worth 40 marks, 2 hours to complete. Developments in Religious Thought Exam: 120 marks, 3 essays each worth 40 marks, 2 hours to complete. No coursework  How parents can support their child?  Ask about what your son/daughter is studying, discuss it with them.  Make sure that your son/daughter are doing extra reading and note taking and ask them to explain what they have learnt and if they can show it to you.  Make sure they have a space at home where they can study and focus.  Keep up to date on what work they have to do and give them advice if they are struggling with workload.  FAQs or any other useful information.
