MARINDUQUE MIDWEST COLLEGE Senior High School Department Dili, Gasan, Marinduque Page vi ABSTRACT The study determined the level of preparedness of the Grade 10 students for entering Senior High School at Marinduque Midwest College. It was conducted in Marinduque Midwest College at Dili, Gasan, Marinduque, MIMAROPA, Philippines. It determined their demographic profile in terms of age, sex, and section; their understanding, self-efficacy, attitude, and confidence towards research; and their overall research preparedness. To measure the level of preparedness of Grade 10 students, descriptive-normative survey was utilized wherein a survey questionnaire was employed to fifty-seven (57) or the entire population of the Grade 10 students from two sections that study at Marinduque Midwest College, SY 2022-2023. The data gathered through questionnaire were treated statistically before giving interpretations. Majority of the Grade 10 students were of ages 15 and 16. There were more female respondents than male. The evaluation identified that the respondents’ do not have much understanding about research; however, they demonstrate willingness and self-confidence in completing difficult tasks, whether related or unrelated to research. Both males and females were ‘familiar’ with the subject. There was a significant difference when analysed according to sex but not according to section and age. Despite the respondent’s positive attitude toward research, willingness, and confidence to take on difficult research tasks, respondents lack research knowledge. This further concludes that Grade 10 students are unprepared to take research subjects in the upcoming Senior High School, SY 2023-2024. It is recommended that the school administration and the Department of Education to implement programs for students that focus on proper research orientation and construct and conceptualize new policies with regard to the research subjects. Parents and guardians are recommended to support their children financially, morally, and emotionally. Future researchers may also conduct this study on a larger population to ensure the validity of the results.
