The incubation period is typically around five days but may range from one to 14 days. There are several vaccine candidates in development, although none has completed clinical trials. Although work is underway to develop drugs that inhibit the virus, the primary treatment is currently symptomatic. Recommended preventive measures include social distancing, wearing a face mask in public, ventilation and air-filtering, hand washing, covering one's mouth when sneezing or coughing, disinfecting surfaces, and monitoring and self-isolation for people exposed or symptomatic. Authorities worldwide have responded by implementing travel restrictions, lockdowns, workplace hazard controls, and facility closures. Many places have also worked to increase testing capacity and trace contacts of the infected. The responses have caused global social and economic disruption, including the largest global recession since the Great Depression. It has led to the postponement or cancellation of events, widespread supply shortages exacerbated by panic buying, agricultural disruption and food shortages, and decreased emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases. Educational institutions have been partially or fully closed. Misinformation has circulated through social media and mass media. There have been incidents of xenophobia and discrimination against Chinese people and against those perceived as being Chinese or as being from areas with high infection rates. Although it is still unknown exactly where the outbreak first started, several early infected people had visited Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market, located in Wuhan, Hubei, China. On 11 February 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) named the disease "COVID-19", which is short for coronavirus disease 2019. The virus that caused the outbreak is known as severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 4 2 (SARS-CoV-2), a newly discovered virus closely related to bat coronaviruses, pangolin coronaviruses, and SARS-CoV .The scientific consensus is that COVID-19 has a natural origin. The probable bat-to-human infection may have been among people processing bat carcasses and guano in the production of traditional Chinese medicines. The earliest known person with symptoms was later discovered to have fallen ill on December 1,2019, and that person did not have visible connections with the later wet market cluster. Of the early cluster of cases reported that month, two-thirds were found to have a link with the market. There are several theories about when and where the very first case (the so-called patient zero) originated. Statement of the problem The research aims to answer the following questions: 1.How many Grade 12 Cookery Students’ are having an issue in their mental health? 2.How does COVID-19 affects among the Grade 12 Cookery Students’ academic performance? 3.What is the impact of COVID-19 to the respondents in term of: 3.1- Psychological 3.2- Emotional 3.3- Social Significance of the study 5 This study will prove beneficial to the following entities: Students-The results of the study may help the students to realize that is very important to nurture and give importance to their mental health and well-being. Parents-The study will give awareness to them in term of their children state of well- being. The study may also be a way for them to look out for their son or daughter more. Teacher-The result of the study will provide awareness why their students do not reach the Students’ Academic Performance Standard Scope and Delimitation This study deals with how Covid-19 affects the Grade 12 Cookery Students’ in their mental health and well-being. The location of the study was in Carigara National Vocational School Carigara, Leyte and the Grade 12 Cookery Students’ will be served as the participant of the study. Due to the current situation, which is the pandemic, gathering data is difficult. Since, going to school is not yet allowed, the researcher only conducted data gathering through social media. The researcher has to consider first the availability to have an internet connection and that is the one of the limitations. 6 Theoretical Framework This research will be based with the different theories or other researchers done by several theorists about the effects of Covid-19. This research will also determine the affects of Covid-19 among grade 12 Cookery Students’ in their mental health and academic performance. Fear caused by the COVID-19 outbreak is more likely to predict college students' psychological help-seeking behavior than depression and trauma because it not only causes a stress response but also strengthens college students' motivation to seek help (Sally, 2020). Children are likely to be experiencing worry, anxiety and fear, and this can include the types of fears that are very similar to those experienced by adults, such as a fear of dying, a fear of their relatives dying, or a fear of what it means to receive medical treatment. If schools have closed as part of necessary measures, then children may no longer have that sense of structure and stimulation that is provided by that environment, and now they have less opportunity to be with their friends and get that social support that is essential for good mental well-being (Dr Kluge,2020). For example, prior work has found that individuals with a ruminative thought style are more likely to incorporate health concerns into autobiographical memory, and this could exacerbate their sense of vulnerability to illness and health-related anxiety (Sansom- Daly et al., 2016). 9 Hypothesis There is a significant effect between the Grade 12 cookery students’ academic performance and how Covid-19 affect the grade 12 cookery students’ mental health and well-being. 10 Impact of Covid-19 in grade 12 Cookery students’ Psychological Emotional That will affect Academic Performance Social Definition of terms Emotional-If it has anything to do with feelings like happiness or anger, then consider it emotional. When you're emotional, you're feeling lots of feelings, or emotions: happy, sad, afraid, lonely, mad. ... An emotional speech makes you stand up and cheer. Psychological- mental or emotional rather than physical. ... The word psychological is used to describe things that are primarily mental or emotional, but it can also be used when referring to the field of psychology. Social-If you are social, you like to be around people. A social butterfly is someone who is social or friendly with everyone, flitting from person to person, the way a butterfly might. The word social comes from the Latin socius meaning "friend." When you're being social, you're everyone's friend. Pandemic-an outbreak of a pandemic disease Academic Performance-Academic performance or academic achievement is the extent to which a student, teacher or institution has attained their short or long-term educational goals. Completion of educational benchmarks such as secondary school diplomas and bachelor's degrees represent academic achievement. Nurture-care for and encourage the growth or development of 11 CHAPTER IV PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS OF DATA AND RESULT Figure 1 No. Questions Frequency Total Percent Yes No Yes No 1.
