membership via cash, check or credit card at the time of purchase. This membership affords the annuitant member the following privileges during posted hours of operation: • Ability to make a reservation to have access to the entire SFC including use of equipment o If the annuitant has a household member, the annuitant will have the ability to make a reservation for the household member to have access to the entire SFC including use of equipment • Eligibility to participate in programs and services offered by Campus Recreation (not including Sport Clubs) • Discounted rates for selected programs and services offered by Campus Recreation Graduate (Alumni) Membership Illinois State University graduates (or alumni) are eligible to purchase an SFC membership. Graduates or alumni are also eligible to purchase a household membership. To purchase a membership, the graduate or alumni must show proof of identification to the Member Services Associate at the time of purchase. If the graduate or alumni still has their student Redbird card, this card can be activated and used as the membership card. If the graduate or alumni no longer has this card, a permanent membership card will be issued. Either card is required to gain access to the facility. ISU graduates or alumni must pay for their membership via cash, check or credit card at the time of purchase. This membership affords the graduate member the following privileges: • Ability to make a reservation to have access to the entire SFC including use of equipment • Eligibility to participate in programs and services offered by Campus Recreation (not including Sport Clubs) • Discounted rates for select programs and services offered by Campus Recreation Household Membership Household members of ISU faculty/staff, annuitant, graduate and student members of the SFC are eligible to purchase an SFC membership. A household member is defined as a person that currently shares residence with a member of the SFC. For a household member to be eligible to purchase a membership, the sponsor and household member must meet the following criteria: • The sponsor must be a current member of the SFC • The sponsoring member must be present at the time of purchase of the membership • The sponsor may only sponsor one member per household • Both the sponsor and the household member must show proof of shared residency and a photo ID to the Member Services Associate at the time of purchase Examples of proof of residency documents include, current utility bill, lease agreement, voided personal check, driver’s license or other government issued ID with address noted, current bank statement and current tuition bill. Household member eligibility is withdrawn if the university sponsor is no longer a member. Household members are not eligible to sponsor household members. If the household member has a Redbird ID card, the Redbird card will be used to validate the membership. If not, a permanent membership card will be used and will be required to gain access to the facility. Household members of faculty/staff members may choose to do a payroll deduction of their membership with sponsor approval. All other household members must pay for membership via cash, check or credit card at the time of purchase. This membership affords the household member the following privileges during hours of operation: Ability to make a reservation to have access to the entire SFC including use of equipment o The sponsoring member must make the reservation for the household member • Eligibility to participate in programs and services offered by Campus Recreation (not including Sport Clubs) • Discounted rates for selected programs and services offered by Campus Recreation 6 Faculty/Staff Free Trial The faculty/staff free trial is a temporary pass that is afforded to new faculty and staff of the university. This allows them the opportunity to use the facilities, programs and services of Campus Recreation on a trial basis prior to committing to the purchase of a membership. New faculty and staff will receive a “Free Trial” certificate during their new hire orientation. They must present this certificate and their faculty/staff Redbird card to the Member Services Associate in order to receive the temporary pass. During the free trial period, the faculty/staff member is not eligible to add a household member. This membership affords the new faculty/staff member the following privileges during hours of operation: • Ability to make a reservation to have access to the entire SFC including use of equipment • Eligibility to participate in programs and services offered by Campus Recreation (not including Sport Clubs) • Discounted rates for selected programs and services offered by Campus Recreation Guest Passes At this time, there will be no guest passes available for purchase. SFC members are not able to bring guests of any kind into the facility. This rule will be in place for the foreseeable future. 7 General Rules and Regulations The following rules and regulations governing the use of all recreational facilities at the Student Fitness Center have been created to provide equal opportunity and protect the rights of each participant. As a member of the university community members have a responsibility to understand and abide by these guidelines. To follow the Illinois guidelines, Student Fitness Center team members will enforce the usage guidelines and other posted regulations. Failure to abide by these rules and regulations may result in a modified or revoked membership privileges as determined by the Executive Director of Campus Recreation and the Student Fitness Center. Conduct Illinois State University’s codes of conduct are enforced at the Student Fitness Center at all times. Use of Illinois State University facilities is a privilege and participants are expected to be good citizens and respect the rights of others. Individuals who engage in unacceptable or irresponsible behavior may have their access to the Student Fitness Center revoked or modified indefinitely as determined by the Executive Director of Campus Recreation and the Student Fitness Center. Students may be subject to further university disciplinary action as outlined in the Illinois State University Code of Student Conduct. http://www.deanofstudents.ilstuedu/downloads/crr/code-of-student-conduct.pdf Public Display of Affection (PDA) Engaging in inappropriate public displays of affection in the Student Fitness Center is strictly prohibited. Proper Attire In an effort to promote safety, reduce the spread of communicable diseases and prevent additional wear and tear on the equipment, all participants are asked to wear appropriate athletic clothing while working out or participating in activities. Participants not wearing appropriate clothing or clothing found to be offensive will be told to adjust as needed or asked to leave the facility. The following are considered appropriate and permitted: • A mask or face mask is required in all areas of the building, excluding while performing an exercise. • Close-toed athletic shoes with non-marking soles (including five fingered shoes) are required in all activity areas except the pool and during certain group fitness classes such as Pilates and yoga. • Shirts and tank tops that fully cover the back, chest, sides and abdomen are required, as well as shorts of appropriate length, to avoid skin-to-equipment contact. • Swimsuits are required in the pool area. A clean t-shirt may also be worn. Swimming apparel is not permitted in any other activity areas of the facility. • Jeans, pants or shorts with rivets/buttons are not permitted in activity areas. These items can rip the upholstery on the equipment and cause unnecessary wear and tear. • Sandals, bare feet and steel-toed boots are not permitted. Campus Recreation reserves the right to restrict the use of any apparel or equipment deemed unsafe. Smoking and Tobacco Illinois State University is a smoke and tobacco free campus in accordance with the Smoke-Free Campus Act (110 ILCS 64 et seq.), the Smoke-Free Illinois Act (410 ILCS 82 et seq.) and the School Code Tobacco Prohibition (105 ILCS 510-20.5b). Smoking and tobacco use are prohibited on campus, including buildings, grounds and parking lots. Alcohol and Drugs Alcoholic beverages and illegal drugs may not be consumed prior to or while using the facility. Individuals may not use the facility while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. 10 Media Policy Personal photography and videotaping are permitted in or at Campus Recreation facilities except for restrooms, locker rooms and pools. Personal photography and videotaping are defined as media of friends/family obtaining informally for personal/private use. Personal photography used for commercial purposes is not allowed. Taking photos or videos of individuals without their consent is prohibited and is cause for immediate removal from Campus Recreation facilities and possible suspension. Academic photography and videotaping are permitted in Campus Recreation facilities with prior authorization except for restrooms, locker room and pool. Academic photography and videotaping are defined as media obtained and/or reproduced for academic purposed including class projects, University promotions and information. Please call (309) 438-3700 for more information and authorization procedures. Media access is allowed in most Campus Recreation facilities with prior authorization. Please call (309) 438-3700 for more information and authorization procedures. Illinois State University Campus Recreation reserves the right to deny access to anyone as it deems necessary. Authorization Procedures • Contact (309) 438-3700 or campusrecreation@ilstu.edu in advance. State who you represent, what is the purpose and how information will be used. • If permission is granted and arrangements have been made, representatives must check in at the Welcome Desk upon arrival. • Member Services Associate will issue the representatives(s) a lanyard with an ID badge that must be visible to team members and patrons while in our facilities. Appropriate identification (driver’s license, state ID, employee ID, etc.) must be left with a Member Services Associate until the photo ID lanyard is returned. • For commercial or architectural/constructional access, please follow guidelines above. Please allow at least 48 hours to process these requests. Marketing Materials Digital signage is available throughout the facility for posting of meetings, facility information, campus information, etc. Please provide the posting materials to Campus Recreation at least two weeks in advance. All marking efforts must be done electronically, and the information provided to Campus Recreation for approval and submission. All unauthorized materials will be removed. TV Channels Flat screen TV’s throughout the facility will have permanent channels designated to each TV. Closed caption will be available for your convenience. Closing Time All areas, including locker rooms, should be vacated after each workout reservation. Reminders will be announced over our PA system at 15 minutes, 5 minutes and at the closing time of the facility. All rented equipment should be returned to the Welcome Desk. Inclement Weather The SFC will generally be open during regular hours, though all or portions of facilities may be closed. KNR classes held in the SFC will only be cancelled if Illinois State University is closed due to inclement weather. Formal programs such as classes and intramural sports may be cancelled or postponed if playing conditions and/or instructor travel are affected. The Campus Recreation website (www.campusrecreation.illinoisstate.edu) will post any weather-related schedule changes. 11 Spatial Rules and Regulations Climbing Wall Climbing is inherently dangerous; to minimize the risk of injury, all participants must follow climbing wall team member instructions and adhere to the following rules. Violating these rules may result in the loss of climbing privileges in addition to disciplinary action. • The climbing wall is open to all individuals with a valid membership. • A Climbing Wall Acknowledgement of Risk and Rules form must be completed to participate at the climbing wall. • Checking in with a climbing wall supervisor upon arrival and present a valid student ID or membership card is required. • Climbing shoes are required while climbing and bouldering. Bare feet are not permitted. • Helmets are available for use but are not required. • Chalk will not be available for check out. • The figure-8 follow-through is the only knot permitted for tying-in at the climbing wall. • Climbing or belaying while under the influence of drugs or alcohol is not permitted. • The use of any mobile technology while climbing or belaying is not permitted. • Lead climbing is only permitted during lead climbing hours. • Unsafe conditions must be reported to a climbing wall supervisor immediately. Boxing Area • Boxing gloves, MMA gloves or wraps are required when using the heavy bag. Patrons will need to bring their own gloves or wraps as they will not be available for check out. • No grappling or wrestling permitted. • No martial arts weaponry permitted. • No jumping strikes or kicks. • Attire policy is enforced including the use of closed toed athletic shoes. Group Fitness Studios The use of group fitness studios is limited to scheduled activities. • Group fitness class will be held in studio 127, 201, court A, B and C. • For safety reasons, group fitness classes will be limited based on space and availability of equipment. • Pre-registration will be required to attend group fitness classes. Individuals can register 7 days in advance. Campus Recreation ask that participants cancel their registration if they are no longer able to attend a class. • Participants will be allowed to enter the SFC 15 minutes before the start of a class. Participants will need to grab a green cleaning towel on their way to each class. • Participants will not be able to enter a class if the class has started. • Mats will not be provided in any class. Participants will need to bring their own. • Equipment will be cleaned by the instructor before and after each class. Participants will have the option to do additional cleaning of the equipment if they feel it is necessary. Disinfectant will be available and green towels can be used to clean. • Participants will need to wear a face covering or mask any time they are not performing an exercise. • Personal belongings must be kept away from the exercising location, preferably in a locker or cubby. • Water must be in an enclosed, unbreakable container and must be filled prior to the class starting. • Food and chewing gum are prohibited. • Schedule is subject to change based on attendance. 12 First and Second Level Fitness Floors • Participants must be 18 years of age or older to use any strength or cardio equipment on the fitness floors. • The first level of the fitness floor will be closed and only used for KNR classes and personal training. Members will be able to use only the second level of the fitness floor. • Equipment of any type must be wiped down before and after use. • All equipment must be used in the manner for which it is designed. Standing or stepping up on weight benches, hanging upside down from equipment, using handheld weights with cardio machines, walking/running backwards or sideways and having more than one person using a machine is prohibited. • Use of elevation masks, battle ropes, gravity boots, chains, power bands or other exercise implements deemed unsafe or inappropriate by Campus Recreation staff will not be allowed. • Individuals are responsible for checking equipment prior to use. Broken or damaged equipment and/or equipment malfunctions should be reported to the SFC staff immediately. • All cardio and strength equipment must remain where it is placed in the room and should not be moved or relocated. All free weight equipment must remain in the free weight area and not moved to other levels or areas of the facility. • Weights must be lifted in a controlled manner. Intentionally slamming or dropping weights is prohibited. • Olympic lifts are prohibited (clean and jerk, snatch). • Exercises such as landmines, t-bar rows, pull ups using accessory handles, ropes and towels, upside down push-ups, and other exercises deemed unsafe or inappropriate by Campus Recreation staff will not be allowed. • All dumbbells, weights and weight plates must be re-racked after use. • Spotters are strongly recommended while using free weights. • Collars must be used with all bars in the weight room. • The use of excessive weight is discouraged. • The use of chalk is prohibited. • Personal training, other than that which is scheduled through Campus Recreation, is prohibited. • Appropriate exercise attire is required at all times. • Personal belongings must be kept in a locker or cubby where available. Bags are not permitted on the fitness floors. • Report all injuries to the SFC staff immediately. • Water must be in an enclosed, unbreakable container. Food, chewing gum and drinks other than water are prohibited. • Participants may use mobile technology for access to music or phone; however, if disruptive behavior (talking or playing music loudly) is noticed or reported, the member will be asked to refrain from use of the device. The use of mobile technology at any time for photo or video purposes is strictly prohibited unless approved in advance. Violators of this policy may be asked to leave the premises and may face further disciplinary actions. • Spitting is prohibited. • Throwing or dropping items from one level to another is prohibited. • Other activities deemed unsafe or inappropriate by Campus Recreation staff will not be allowed. Track and HIIT Zone The track and HIIT Zone will remain closed for the foreseeable future. Equipment Check Out Daily use locks will be the only item available for members to check out for the foreseeable future. • A Redbird or membership card is required to check out equipment. • Equipment must be placed in the “Used Lock” bin when it is returned. • The loss or damage of equipment is the responsibility of the person who checked it out. • Individuals will be charged a fee for damaged or lost equipment. • Equipment may not leave the building and must be returned prior to leaving the SFC. Any equipment that is not returned will be considered lost or stolen and a replacement fee will be assessed.
