The moderator Vivian Onoh, welcomed everyone present. Introductions were done and Prof. F.E. Okonofua, the Centre Leader CERHI, was invited for the welcome address. 3.0 Welcome Address Prof. Okonofua started by welcoming everyone present and stating the mission and vision of the Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation (CERHI). He went ahead to appreciate the staff and faculty of the Centre for their hardwork and dedication which has brought the Centre to the limelight. 4.0 Meeting/Workshop Objectives Prof. Okonofua stated that the objectives of the meeting were to share and review the 2020 workplan and ACE IMPACT implementation plan, to intimate the members of I/SAB on goals of the Centre and to obtain their recommendations on ways to strengthen the Centre. 5.0 Goodwill message The representative of the Dean, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Dr. Akinbo, expressed his deepest gratitude to the Centre Leader, including the staff and faculty of the Centre for the opportunities they have brought to the University by bringing the Centre of Excellence in Reproductive Health Innovation to the University of Benin. He went further to state that the Dean had a great passion for what the Centre has been doing and is willing to support the Centre in any way possible. Also, the Dean of Students, Prof. Osaretin Aigboro, applauded the Clean CERHI- UNIBEN Initiative (CUCI) team, who are students of CERHI, for coming up with such an idea for the progress of the University. He also appreciated the Centre Leader and faculty for raising such mindful and hardworking students. He further promised to attend meetings and workshops held by the Centre and also to support the Centre in any way possible. 6.0 CERHI ACE 1 achievements and challenges The Centre Leader, Prof. F. E. Okonofua, gave a brief summary of the achievements and challenges of the Centre. The achievements he mentioned included the International Institutional accreditation which CERHI was the first to receive from the Agency for Public Health Education Accreditation (APHEA). Also, 3 other programmes in the Centre have been internationally accredited by the High Council for Evaluation of Research and Higher Education (HCERES). The Centre was also announced as the best performing African Centre of Excellence (ACE) by the World Bank. All the Disbursement Linked Indicators (DLI) were achieved and some targets were even exceeded. The internal revenue generated by the Centre stemmed from the Business Centre, CERHI Guest House, Bus and Hall Rentals and Laboratory services. He also stated that the Centre wrote a proposal for the extension of ACE 1 called the ACE Impact and the extension was granted. Some of the challenges he mentioned included; procurement bottlenecks, reduction in funding and difficulty in recruiting regional students. 7.0 Review of CERHI’s ACE Impact The Centre Leader announced that the ACE 1 would end in March, 2020 which would mark the commencement of the ACE Impact. He stated that the ACE Impact is focused on expanding results from the Centre to the University and the country at large. The ACE Impact would specially focus on Nursing, despite the participation of other departments. The Centre is currently making plans to develop an ultramodern mannequin laboratory. 8.0 Presentation of the 2020 ACE Impact The Program Manager, Vivian Onoh, presented the work plan. She stated that the work plan is for one (1) year and would first be sent to the Association of African
