I would like to talk about Chapter 5 Agricultural & Rural Transformation & Development and I would like to go have our national level into its scope. The agriculture in our country plays a major role in our economy as it employs or contributes a lot in our GDP. However, even with this, it doesn’t benefit much the poor and the farmers. The module also stated about how land reforms are important for the farmers, I remembered the Hacienda Luisita incident caused a lot of causality of our farmers. A lot has been already made by the farmers with their own land to gain more and have a huge development to them yet there are agricultural lands that only turns into resorts or residential subdivisions. Even if the rural development encompasses the efforts from both farm and nonfarm rural incomes, there is still a part in which we must focused about. Our government must lend a helping hand to its farmers, not just the large ones, to achieve agricultural and rural development that benefits all. I hope that our government and agricultural sector allocate funding for initiatives that could benefit all especially our farmers. Chapter 5 • What is the effect of COVID-19 PANDEMIC to agricultural production of food in the world? COVID-19 has hit at a point when malnutrition or undernourishment continues to increase. Life and livelihood opportunities are at stake from this pandemic. There is serious concern that farmers will not be able to plant enough or not, as usual, this year. It is obvious that although there is sufficient food for all worldwide, so many people are also still suffering from poverty. Our food systems are collapsing, and the pandemic is making the problem worse. Even if there is a surplus with the products produced, it can’t be delivered due to safety protocols making it to just dry. The agriculture and production of our food has been struggling.
