At the island of Camiguin where he was born, he experienced major problems on how to live. He was strong enough to face challenges even when he was a kid. His name is Emerson Torredes. Emerson grew up independently. He lived separately from his parents and stayed with his cousin at Butuan. He was 20 years old when he stopped studying in Saint Joseph Institute of Technology as a computer science student, and applied in Philippine National Bank as a worker in IT department for two years. On his way to work at the office, he saw a couple having a hard time with their car, it was Mr. and Mrs. Flores. He helped the couple and on that unexpected situation he was able to fix the car. On that day, his skills was discovered by Mr. Jaime Flores and he offered Emerson a stable job. He started working as a personal mechanic from his boss at Butuan at the age of 23 after he learned those skills on his own. From an ordinary worker, he turned into a manager of a car repair shop for his loyalty and honesty to his boss. He never knew in his entire life that he would met the love of his life, his costumer, whom he fell in love with. At the age of 27, they got married and lived with 3 kids. He became an electrician, plumber, carpenter, personal driver, and he still used his skills in computers. Many challenges taught him many things. He experienced car accidents when he drunk too hard, he got injuries from short circuits, he was confined multiple times in the hospital because of tuberculosis and lung cancer, and he was also betrayed by his trusted friend. That betrayal mess his life and he started to crumble. But as time passes by, those challenges made him realize to fight for life, he stood still. He moved to Buenavista from Butuan with his family. He left his job as the chief mechanic of his own car shop, the Butuan Delta Car Services, which he gave way to that friend who betrayed him. He still became a mechanic at the Municipality of Buenavista. He gave big contributions for the town, including his plans to fix two ambulance, one patrol car, and one firetruck which was stucked in the garage for a long time, and he did succeed in fixing cars. He became one of the famous and best mechanic for car users in the town and even in the city of Butuan. Not until he was 49 years old and his decease got even worst, he died at the 29th day of October 2015. But he was still remembered even after his loss. I chose to feature my father's life because he deserved to be known again to the people who doesn't know his story. His contributions for the town gave a help for some of the common problems in town. And even now, his skills are remembered by his co-workers. He was a real hero to his family and a secret hero to the people of Buenavista.
