Circuit Analysis Lab - DC Circuits & Resistive Sensors (ENGR 262L, Lab #2, Exp #2), Lab Reports of Electrical Circuit Analysis

The preparation, objectives, procedure, and lab report requirements for lab #2 (exp #2) of the circuit analysis course (engr 262l) at the university. Students are expected to read background material on resistance, kirchhoff's laws, and combining resistors in series and parallel. They will work in pairs and use specific equipment to measure and record data from simple dc circuits with resistors, resistive sensors, and other components. The lab report must include headings, objectives, diagrams, equipment list, raw data/calculations, a table/plot, answers to questions, and a summary.

Circuit Analysis Lab (ENGR 262L) Lab #2 (Exp #2): Simple DC Circuits; Resistors & Resistive Sensors (Tsividis, pp. 19-23) Preparation: For background, read N&R pp. 14-25; 46-53 (1.6-7; 2.1-2), on resistance, Kirchhoff’s Laws, combining resistors in series and parallel, and voltage & current dividers. Lab Partners: Pick a lab partner and work together at one lab station. Equipment (each lab station): 2 Digital Multimeters (DMMs) [Extech model 430] Power Supply (PS) [Topward model 6303D] Plexiglas Component Board with resistor (X), unknown (Y), photoresistor, thermistor, SPDT switch, and potentiometer Connecting Wires Objectives: As stated in Tsividis, p. 19 Procedure: Follow all steps (1-16) as stated in Tsividis, pp. 19-23 Lab Reports: Submit only one report per group (no more than two students) on this lab, by the end of the lab period. Use a Mead Composition notebook (with graph paper). You will take turns with your lab partner, submitting a report in your own notebook every other week. Include all parts of your report as indicated below, in Lab Report Format. The report may be handwritten, but must be neat and legible. Lab Report Format (for Experiment #2): 2 pts Heading: Lab #, Title, Date Author’s Full Name (printed), roles as in Exp#1 Partner’s Full Name (printed), roles as in Exp#1 2 pts Objectives: state as indicated above 1 pt Diagrams: state “see Tsividis, pp. 20-23, Figures 1-7” 1 pt Equipment: state from list above, but indicate only models actually used 4 pts Raw Data/Calculations: record any measurement or label, and make any calculation as specified in steps 1-14 of the procedure 4 pts Table/Plot: neat, well-labeled table & plot for step 3 of procedure 4 pts Questions: provide complete answers to the questions indicated in steps 5-7 of the procedure; record circuit diagrams with specific component values used for steps 15, 16 and explain your choices 2 pts Summary: summarize what you learned in at least two sentences, but no more than one paragraph.
