IST 402: Design of Immersive Environments Assignment 2: Simple Modification to Unreal Tournament 2003 Due: Midnight March 4rd 2004 Project Description: In this assignment, you will create a new modification to unreal tournament that integrates a new game play rule with a new level design. Requirements 1. (10 points) Using UnrealEd, create a new level a. at least two rooms. b. at least two floors. 2. (30 points) Using UnrealScript, create a new game type, which should a. (10 points) Display a Radar showing the enemies near by b. (5 points) Display different colors for the enemies on the Radar according to some dangerous function b. (10 points) Give the user some useful ‘danger’ indication using the dangerous function developed in part 2.b. The danger indication can be (i) sound, (ii) flashing red screen on the HUD or (iii) a meter that is part of the HUD. You should explicitly define the measure you use for calculating the ‘danger’ function. Extra points can be given to more elaborate and complex functions (up to 3 extra points) Extra Credit: • (5 extra points) Very elaborate and detailed level includes more than 4 rooms/zones lifts, 3-4 floors, and movers • (2 extra points) Directing users view to the most dangerous character in 3D (e.g. using a halo around the character, varying lighting conditions.). • (up to 3 extra points) You can gain up to 3 extra points for your danger function. We will assess the complexity of your ‘danger’ function depending on the rest of the functions developed by the students in the classes. Assignment Deliverables: • zip file containing your code, levels, and other materials used. The file must be named: <lastname-unreal>.zip. • Document outlining 1. Level(s) you built. Include description and screenshots. 2. The classes and modifications you made to UT3k 3. Explain how to load and play your game 4. Explain the ‘danger’ function you used 5. Explain the method of ‘danger’ indication that you developed.
