Obesity is a result of sleep deprivation because at night the body separates good fat from bad fat that was consumed during the day. a. The body’s metabolism slows when sleep time is cut short than the hours its supposed to be, leading to obesity in most people. (Williamson, Fever) 2. Involuntary micro sleep occurs to sleep deprived people b. People mostly fall asleep in the late afternoon (example of involuntary micro sleep) For instance, we sometimes fall asleep unknown when watching TV. 3. Emotional effects are a noticeable symptom caused by sleep deprivation a. Sleep deprived humans experience changes in mood. They develop anxiety, depression and some begin to have suicidal thoughts. As usual, victims end up using alcohol to cope with the moods.
