Nombre _______________________________ Fecha ________________________ SPANISH SUBJECT PRONOUNS  A subject pronoun functions as the subject of a sentence. It tells you who is doing the action. Subject pronouns often replace proper nouns, for instance, I could replace John with he in English. He would be the subject pronoun in the sentence.  Here are the subject pronouns in Spanish.  Generally, Spanish subject pronouns work like English subject pronouns, but there are a few important differences.  In English, a subject or subject pronoun is ALWAYS required. In Spanish, subject pronouns are often omitted because the form of the verb will tell you who is doing the action. (More on that in the future.)  Spanish has two form of the subject pronoun you – tú and Usted. A Spanish- speaker will generally refer to a friend or family member as tú. Tú is an informal form of you and indicates familiarity with a person. Usted is used with someone you do not know well or who you want to show respect to, for instance, your boss, the principal, a police officer, or a doctor.  Spanish has subject pronouns that roughly translate to you guys. In most Spanish-speaking countries the subject pronoun for you guys is Ustedes. In Spain, vosotros is the pronoun used when talking to friends or family, Ustedes is used when talking to a group of people you do not know well. Vosotros is only used in Spain.
