SPD 546 Listening, Speaking, and Vocabulary Strategies Grand Canyon University: SPD 546 Listening, Speaking, and Vocabulary Strategies I was not able to observe in a physical classroom setting because my local school district is only conducting school virtually. I was able to observe the classroom via google classroom. I was able to collaborate with the classroom teacher via google classroom and email. My mentor and his paraeducator meet with the students both one on one and small group settings via Google classroom. While working with his students I noticed that he provides the same supports and strategies to all the students, English language learners or not. In my observation, I noticed that the listening and speaking strategy was the Listen-retell strategy. Each pair received a prompt relevant to a topic that was being studied. One student from each pair had to respond to the prompt, while the other listened their partner's response. The listening partner then rephrases what was said, and the accuracy of the listing partners retell is confirmed by the other student. Then roles were reversed. I thought this was an interesting strategy. This was my first time seeing this strategy. The vocabulary strategy that I observed was basic. Before the assignment started, vocabulary words and definitions were gone over via PowerPoint
