The speech I saw was about how modern science, the world, and the universe change with time, as well as the ever-increasing complications that are forced on our lives. Hannu Rajaniemi also discussed the history of modern science, as well as the scientists who have contributed significantly to science and technology. He also mentioned that science and physics were utilized in the development of innovations, discoveries, and inventions that are continually changing our current situation. As I previously stated, humanity's understanding of science, technology, and the planet continues to develop, despite the increasing complications that are imposed in our lives. As a result of Hannu Rajaniemi's presentation, I have gotten a better understanding of the world in which I live, and I have come to some conclusions. He stated that if each star were a particle of sand, the amount of sand on Earth, as well as deserts, sand beaches, and sand boxes, would be multiplied by millions. With that knowledge, I understood I was just a speck of sand in our vast cosmos. If I make some mistakes or make bad judgments in my life, the world will not stop or the universe will not change, so I must continue on with my life and believe that a simple mistake will not change anything, but I must learn from it. He also discussed Leo Szilard's beautiful and terrible idea of the "chain reaction," in which he claimed that if you could split one atom, it would release neutrons, which would split more atoms, which would release more neutrons, and so on, and that you could make atomic power work and create a terrible weapon. And they went on to say that this is exactly what happened 12 years later in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Leo was frightened of changing his major from physics to biology. With that, I learned that you should think about something big before you do it, because you might regret the outcome. To summarize what has been spoken so far, I learnt that studying the history of science and technology allows us to obtain an understanding of both the world's past and how everything was found, as well as all we didn't know about the universe. Imagine not having discovered those moments of discovery at all. Consider how different your life would be if you didn't have that information. Like what Hannu Rajaniemi said “to understand anything, you have to understand everything” but you cannot necessarily understand everything; it depends on what you understood in the first place. That is why, just as in science, we must first master the fundamentals before moving on to the next step.
