SCHOOL YEAR 2021-2022 7TH GRADE RAIDERS ELECTIVE DESCRIPTIONS Art Basic (01010200): Students will be introduced to the principles of art, color theory, coloring techniques, and the fundamentals of basic sketching. Art Advanced (01010500): This course is for students with 1+ years’ experience. Students will continue applying skills and techniques previously mastered. Students will focus on the principles of art, the element of line, color theory and coloring techniques. They will master contour sketching and progress to presentation drawing. A sketch book is required. Students new to the program must provide their portfolio for review. Mrs. McKinstry will make final approval of all students entering the course. Band Beginning (13020000): Students who have little or no experience. Students will choose instruments with the aid of the band director at the beginning of the year. They will participate in school concerts/events and may perform at district/state levels. Thirty minutes a day of home practice is expected. There will be a limited amount of school instruments available for rent. Band 2nd Instrument (13020100): Students who already play an instrument and want to take a 2nd instrument. The student will have 2 band classes. Band Advanced (1302000A): Students who have taken Band Beginning and want to continue in Band. Mr. Nista will decide what level the student will be in and if new to the school, an audition will be required. Chorus 1 (13030000): Students will learn the fundamentals of music, sing a variety of repertoire, and learn how to read music. They will perform in school concerts/events and may perform at district/state levels. Chorus 2 (13030100): Students who have taken Chorus for at least one year. Students will continue to build upon the foundation of basic musicianship, sight-reading and performing a vast array of mixed repertoire. They will perform in and outside of the county for district/state events. Ms. Jock will make final approval of all students entering this course. Culinary Careers (88092000): Students will explore culinary as a career choice, focusing on food safety, interpreting recipes, menus and prep. Explore Film and TV Production (1700010B): Students will learn the basics of film-making, including shot composition, sequencing, editing and digital storytelling. Along with learning the fundamentals of broadcast journalism, including interview skills, the recording of B-roll, graphics generation and the creation of T.V. news packages for the Ramblewood Raider Report Daily News show. Students must be self-directed, able to work in groups and meet deadlines.
