A:/ Refers to the use of emotional appeals to persuade an audience by putting it in a a certain frame of mind that make it more willing to act in one way instead of another 3) What is logos? A:/ The use of rational arguments and evidence to persuade an audience of the reasonableness of one’s position. 4) Why is it important to address counter points in an persuasive speech? A:/ It is important because you are not only showing the two sides of the speech, but you are showing the truth to your audience. Also by showing the counterpoints with true facts, you can rebuttal them with more hard facts that can help you persuade even more. 5) Explain the concept of belief and how does it impact a persuasive speech A:/ Belief can be the understanding of our world, the ideology or structure that we have, and is one of the first things we have to consider. It impacts a persuasive speech because when we present a persuasive speech we want to persuade our audience by presenting data and research from experts into what we believe, how much do we believe, and how strong we feel for this belief. 6) What Maslow’s hierarchy of need and how does that relates to preparing a speech? A:/ Maslow’s Hierarchy of need is a model that represents the need for every human. The lower the needs in the hierarchy, the more fundamental they are. A person will abandon a higher hierarchy in order to pay attention to a lower need. It can relate to preparing a speech because we know what are our audience’s focus or needs, and that way we can appeal to emotion by presenting or talking about our audience’s need. 7) Draw all the argument model and explain all 4 components(Under Persuasive speaking ppt) A:/ Level of Dispute, is the like a borderline, is what we as an audience are willing to accept. Evidence is what we are going to show to our audience as a proof for what we are talking about, because we have to provide facts from experts not just our opinion. Reasoning is our warrant, is the way we present our evidence by either appealing to emotions or credibility. And our Claim is our central idea, is what we are trying to show, is what we are going to support with our reasoning and evidence. 8) When giving a eulogy why is it important to be honest and not over glorified? Why? A:/ It is important to be honest because you are saying goodbye to a very important person in your life, and the lives of the people who are with you. You have to be honest about the positive qualities this person had. Also not over glorifying is important because we all know we are not perfect, and we all have our defects, so do not make this person look as the best person in the world, just tell be honest about positive qualities this person had and everybody will enjoy the eulogy.
