LATE SUBMISSION OF WEEKLY OUTPUT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN PERFORMANCE TASK: Instructions - Summarize the following excerpt from the Readers’ learning material provided by DepEd in 2016. Use a separate A4 bond paper for your answer (already provided). Apply communication and analytical skills. Also, make sure that the thesis statement is well-defined and clear in your summary. (Note: Rubrics indicated on modules will be used for determining your score) The course English for academic and professional purposes aims to teach the students to communicate effectively in diverse academic and professional situation. The course covers five major headings: Reading academic texts, writing the reaction paper/review/critique, writing the concept paper; Writing the position paper and writing the survey/field/laboratory/scientific/ technical report. Understanding the language how works will help the students appreciate the role language in communication. Chapter | begins with the articles “from hand to mouth” which explains how communications develop from manual gestures to oral languages, followed by “a brief history of English” that talks about the development of the English language and explains how and why this language has change and continue to change. The next set article would develop the student's reading skills. They will understand the whole context of the text. Chapter 2 aims to develop competences of the students to write a reaction paper. Chapter 3 focuses on the writing of concept papers in the discipline. This chapter will give us explaining and clarifying concepts in the different field such as art and business. The chapter 4 focuses on the presenting and analyzing arguments, defending a stand through presentation of arguments supported by evidence, and writing various type of reports. And lastly, the chapter 5 focuses on what is the result of the research that they do. It gave us the detailed result of the research.
