(E) o I- internal o E- Environment  Those people who view stiuli as strengths and opportunities exert more effort, persist longer and perform longer.  Culture o A system of shared meaning that dictates how organizational members behave o Suggest the correct way to do something o “personality” of the organization  “Clues” to Culture o Values: read about organization, look at people who work there (Walmart pickup truck) o Symbols: object that represents something (Mary Kay car) o Practices: done on a daily basis (sister act eating lunch together everyday)  Ex. Test question: Dr. Neck showed clip from sister act to portray_____ (culture) o Rituals: similar to practices but not as often. (Lion King—Opening scene)  The lions are the king  Brought all animals together, people like the leader/boss  General Electrics Culture: o Very closed doors o Very structured o Treated with distain if don’t follow procedure o David Letterman show to illustrate clues to culture.
