TECHNICAL PROPOSAL POLLUTION MANAGEMENT, Papers of Environmental Science

As we travel from one area of the country to the other, we see a diversity in culture, people, geography and food. But one thing remains a constant and that is pollution. Pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into the environment. From air pollution to water pollution, we have seen it all and have to suffer from it. The bad smell of the once so beautiful rivers makes one wonder how did it get this bad and how to further prevent it.

TECHNICAL PROPOSAL POLLUTION MANAGEMENT Name: Binit Bhattarai Registration Number: 20BCE2902 Submitted to: Ministry of Forests and Environment of Nepal Under the guidance of: Mrs. Saraswathy S.., Department of English, School of Social Sciences & Languages, VIT, Vellore-14, India INTRODUCTION -As we travel from one area of the country to the other, we see a diversity in culture, people, geography and food. We should work as a community towards a pollution-free nation and eventually to a sustainable future. As a developing country, it is necessary to focus on both development and the environment. A proper compromise must be found if we want to control pollution. COST AND VIABILITY The cost of a smart dustbin is around 6000$ and starting by installing it in major cities would cost around $10,000,000 which can be recovered in about 5 years’ time from the energy it provides. The import and installation will take about 2-3 years' time. The idea is that the pollution check equipment will help to control the emission from smaller vehicles and costs only about 1000$. Currently the proposed plan is to have them in the 21 major roads around the country. Using sewage as energy is also another viable option. This could reduce the cost of sewage disposal by earning money through the energy produced. Nepal has a 46000 MW hydroelectricity capacity and the required cost to make it would be $102,000,000,000 which is not viable at the moment but is something to look at. Reducing the tax on electric vehicles can help the environment all while increasing car sales. With this measures, Nepal can achieve carbon neutrality and can earn about 5$ for every tonne of CO2 gas reduction which can turn around to give about $5 billion and also the export of electricity can cover the amount spent on environment pollution issues. CONCLUSION Pollution has been a huge burden to the citizens of Nepal even threatening the lives of thousands of people of every year. Sustainable development is the only way forward where we don't have to sacrifice the health of the common man. Even the constitution states that clean air, water and land is a primary right, but every citizen's right has been violated and proper justice should be given. Our method to control the pollution in Nepal factors in the cost and the comfort level of the people. We looked into every nookand cranny to put forward this solution. Thus, | hope that you give serious thoughts to our proposal and hopefully we will become of use. Eagerly waiting for your response.
